I think we've solidly concluded that every Star Trek fan hates the Abrams films. :techman:

I prefered ST09 to STID, STID could worked just as easily with John Harrison as the villian rather than Kahn.

Speaking as someone who watched (and loved) the original run of TOS as a kid and then went on to watch and love & appreciate all the Trek that followed (on TV & the big screen) (despite all flaws, inconsistencies, and cringe inducing bits along the way), I also count myself as someone who loves the last two movies. I can nitpick right along with the best of them, but I consider myself a fan who has -overall- enjoyed the arc of the storytelling throughout Trek's various incarnations..... despite "Brain and brain! What is brain?!" and Anheuser-Busch engine rooms and all the rapidly evolving amphibian-like crew members & rapidly de-evolving spider-like crew members that came in between!!

Just as I expected. No clear cut winner.

I think if you force people to say yes or no, especially on a Star Trek forum, specifically a sub-forum devoted to that specific thing, most people are going to gravitate towards yes. I'd hate to think that if even half the fanbase didn't like the movies that they'd hang around here just to bitch about it. That just seems rather tedious.

I put yes, even though I echo the thoughts of some earlier posters. They're enjoyable movies and were worth seeing, but it's not the kind of thing I feel like rewatching over and over. Kinda hard to place opinions like that in a binary.

I like one well enough, but the other not so much, so they cancel each other out into a non-vote.

^This. I voted "Yes" even though I only liked the first one and not STID so much. That said, I want the franchise to continue, so I am glad it is having success.

Been watching TOS since the early 1970s in Syndication, and watched TAS in first run. I like the Reboots a lot.

Kind of hard to comprehend someone thinking they don't feel like "Real Trek" and then going on to say they are full of Fan Wank?

Don't know. Feels like TOS to me.

I like them enough that I'm going to watch them both again, right now after I finish making this post. It will be at least the fifth time for the first one and the fourth time for the second one.

If they use the same actors in this new reboot approach,I think the actors will 'own' their characters more and develop the depth they need to be totally believable. Case in point is Nimoy in his commitment to the Spock role. So, for me, it's a start but hasn't got there yet.

Yes, you took a major chance on a reboot fan forum on a Trek site. I salute you.

And yet any member of the TrekBBS, regardless of his like or dislike of the films, can come here and take the poll. Thats the whole point of the poll. Are you implying that if Squiggy posted this poll in the TOS forum, the responses would be completely different?

Since the stated goal was to survey "fans" (e.g. Star Trek fans), a Star Trek site would seem an ideal place to ask the question.

Do you really think you'd get a different response if the question was asked in another forum here? Given the number of critical conversations about the movies that crop up in this very forum, I'm skeptical, but I hardly read every thread her so my view may very well be skewed.

Eh. They're better than Voyager, Enterprise, and the TNG flicks, anyway. I guess if you're going for mindless action, it helps to make the mindless action entertaining. Voyagers "action sequences" were a great cure for insomnia.

It's a no from me.

The only good things about them were Karl Urban as McCoy, Bruce Greenwood as Pike, Beastie Boys tracks and the CGI was impressive. Having said that it's better than nothing!
