Silo (Apple TV+) | Rebecca Ferguson, David Oyelowo, Tim Robbins

I'm wondering if Rebecca Ferguson was busy with shooting something else, so they shot all her scenes in a week on the one set then divided them into little chunks to sprinkle through the season.

I like Lukas learning stuff and the sheriff and his wife had a nice scene.
I think it's just that her plot doesn't have much content compared to the goings on in the Silo.

I expected a pretty big episode for episode 8, and it kinda felt like it was meandering. Maybe I'm starting to see what people were saying about this show being slow. We're two episodes away from the finale now. Can we get some pretty big answers? As someone who hasn't read the books, who are those people that Juliette encountered. They seemed pretty young, maybe the descendants of the rebels?
Also for an episode titled The Book of Quinn, we really didn't get that much, other than telling us what we already know about it all being rigged.
Same here. This was the first episode I thought just felt a bit vacant. Like a mid season Walking Dead episode.

After making it clear there was other people in the abandoned Silo this episode was the one they should then be explained in. We just got a reveal that we didn't really need.

On one hand she may have been busy when every one else was ready to work, but considering that both Silos are the same set, except one is broken down and flooded, so it would be difficult to consonantly keep redressing the set.

My thinking is that they filmed everything in Silo 18 for the season, then they kicked the shit of the sound stage, smashed the lighting rigs, set the &uck on fire and then flooded the bugger, and dubbed the place Silo 17, and only then filmed the other half of each episode retroactively, like how the Romulan Ships in Nemesis were just Enterprises' bridge with a paint job.

If the show is canceled, no harm, no foul, but if the series is renewed, then they have to jigger the broke down chaos of silo 17, back into the semi pristine silo 18... That's a problem for 2026.

2026 can suck it.

Hugh Howey did a recent Q&A on Reddit. He was saying he got to binge all the episodes at once and even he can see how it will be frustrating to watch this show weekly. It is going to play much better in chunks.

The fact that they are not even through with the first book is astonishing at this point. It's a short collection of stories.

Definitely feels like we've really slowed down this season. Mid-season Walking Dead is exactly the right descriptor. Just very slow moving, waiting for the big exciting finale episode. We're way too far into this season to only be this far into the season :)

I just bought the book. It's chunky enough

I think we will get major movement and answers in the final 2 episodes (as more or less indicated by Howey in the - cleaned for bookspoilers version - Q&A mentioned above).

The season has been slow at times, but I think the negativity that seems to surround it (on Reddit, for example) is exagerrated. There will be answers and payoffs. It's still a great show and binging the episodes (or at least, watch them in groups of 2 or 3) helps with the pacing issues.
She probably thinks Solo knows fek all and elephants or whatever is just a load of shite he made up in his head.
I am a bit disappointed we didn't get to find out more though. I'll be real pissed of the final episode doesn't get us in behind that door.
My take on it is that she is a bit afraid of him, sees him as unstable (after she pushed him on his apparently fake identity, for example) and she doesn't want to jeopardise her chances to return to silo18 by pushing him for answers and potentially losing his help or worse, having to defend herself from him. Solo has been freely offering some info on the Silo's and pieces of live from "before", but he also absolutely doesn't want her inside the vault and he may not be willing to tell everything.

I haven't really posted on reddit much about this series (Even though I have a few times) but I will defend this season. I liked the first episode and seeing Juliette show her engineering skills. I'd much rather see that than your typical shootout. I've also enjoyed the main Silo storyline. It's just I feel like the Juliette stuff has stalled, and I miss season 1 Juliette quite a bit.

I think it has become a bit trendy to complain about the pace of this show.

I don't know if it's got to do with streaming culture but complaining about pace seems to be a thing now. The moaning about House of the Dragon was way over the top and those people clearly didn't remember what GoT was like back when it was actually good.

People seem to have become more impatient, demanding answers NOW. And I can understand it after shows like Lost that endlessly kicked mystery boxes around, but if there is one series where we know we wil get answers it is Silo since it's based on a completed book series and season 3 and 4 are already announced, with the latter ending the series.

Sure the pacing of season 2 hasn't been ideal and I would have liked faster/more interaction between Juliette and Solo, but it's certainly still a very interesting watch.

People are getting impatient because it's getting to be 2-3 years between seasons. I could be dead and buried by the time some of these shows finish.

There were elements of this episode that should have started in episode 5. Basically the entire teaser should have been maybe half of episode 5 or 6, and then we can spend more time with that group in Silo 17. They really lit a spark in this storyline and I got to see some badass Juliette again. Basically everything I railed against week seemed to be fixed this week. So much was revealed about Solo, and a lot was revealed about life in Silo 17 that I really wish it was just sprinkled in with the episodes before.

As for the main silo storyline, I wonder if Knox knows that Walk is the traitor and was just throwing off the scent. I hope he's actually figuring it out. As for the ending, that was fantastic. Finally, things jumpstarted and I'm excited for the finale. Next week is going to be insane. The finale of Silo and the Premiere of Severance on the same night. I can't wait.

Very good.

The Algorithm! A total jaw-dropper. Looking forward to learning more about that.

I loved the way they showed the alternate views of Juliette's time in the Silo. Tied things together very nicely.

Definitely the best episode of the season. I found the part with Solo finally letting everyone into the Vault (and how he'd decorated it over the years) very heart-warming.

I think Knox definitely knew Walk was the traitor and was lying for the camera.

I also think Knox is on to Walk, and he was basically talking in code to her ("I can't punish her for wanting to save her loved one"). Which probably means he is now feeding Bernard misinformation.

I loved the way both Solo and his opponents were redeemed. The conclusion in Silo 17 wasn't a big surprise (other perhaps then Russel's suit being there - wonder if "Eater" will go with Juliette or maybe Solo will), as it was all hinted at before. That he was
Russel's kid
was guessed/reasoned by many on Reddit.

I've only just gotten in to this show but I've binged my way to the current episode. Really loving the series! They've created such a different but realistic feeling world with its own culture and reality inside the silo.

I can see how the pacing might bother people. It didn't bother me much because I just binged 19 episodes in a fairly short amount of time. In general, a mystery series should strive to "make progress" on the mystery every episode. At least something. Silo hasn't done that really but I've been enjoying it greatly.

Looking forward to the season 2 finale! Knox is definitely communicating in code with Walk and giving misinformation to Bernard all at the same time.

Pacing would be fine if some of the non-Juliette characters were more interesting and some of the Juliette stuff wasn't repetitive.
