Should season 2 have a new title sequence?

Oh yeah, the symbolism is really obvious, it just comes off as something a kid in an art class at primary school would be asked to put together, "kids, what could we use to symbolise conflict, or danger", "how about the ship flies past a Klingon knife miss!"

It's really nothing substantial, but it's framed like a Da Vinci drawing, implying humanist erudition.

Communicator --> Translation between Burnham and Kol for "Into the Forest I Go".
Bat'leth --> When Georgiou dies in "Battle at the Binary Stars".
Disco Travelling --> Whenever it uses the Spore Drive.
The Eye --> Looking into the Mirror. Not to mention Terrans not be able to stand light.
The Phaser --> Lorca and Tyler (under his nose as a Klingon) practicing, and the Federation at war.

It's not meaningless. Superficial, maybe, but not meaningless. But I'm all set with this, so...

/OUT

ENT had the best title sequence (with all due respect to TOS and TNG). DS9 and VOY had the worst. STD is meh, neither here nor there

I think STD's title sequence is easily the best (certainly the most innovative) since TOS. The music I'm still not a fan of, if only because it takes too many cues from the original series, especially for a show that is such a departure.

Enterprise was a great title sequence, and STD ups the ante. Each series ought to have a distinctive, individualized experience brought on by the theme.

Obviously, the second season of STD should have new ties to its storyline, unlike every other series, since the first season titles were built around the Klingon War. But, despite my personal taste, the song should probably stay and the imagery changed only mildly to reflect the focus of the season.

But still, STD has yet to disappoint, and I can't wait to see what they come up with!

I think the imagery in the titles should change, now the Klingon war is not the focus, and the theme of this season is Faith and Science.

As with most things regarding DSC, I like the title sequence because it is such a departure from the franchise norm.

So I'd say keep the style and the music. Change some of the images.
This.
Also agree that with the focus off the Klingon war, some of the images could change. Personally, I love Jeff Russo's music (esp the theme) :techman:

While the DIS title sequence is probably my least favourite Trek title sequence - the fact that it is SO different is the best thing about it!

I really didn't want to have another assembly of pretty space pictures with flybys of the main ship. Visually, ENT has the best title series. But you shouldn't make a carbon copy of that either.

Overall, I very much liek the idea of DIS' title sequence very much! Just not the execution. Like, I think the illusion of technical drawings coming to life is quite fantastic! But then the objects they chose are so... boring. Such a by-the-numbers way of animating something. And the musict is certainly good, but not great.

IMO, they should alter the title sequence for next season - new images and all connecting to the next season - but they sure as hell need to keep the style they currently have. Just a little bit more finished execution.

Count me among the keep the theme but change out most of the images crowd.

Except leave the shot of the Discovery flying by the giant space flower right where it is, with it's accompanying chorus background. I still get chills at that part.

Star Trek Discovery
STD is one of few ways to call this show. There is no universal consensus on which one way is the best.
Weeeeeeeeeell.... but there is a consensus in fandom that typically ST is not part of the abbreviation. TOS. TNG. DS9. VOY. ENT. None of those include the Star Trek initials, so the only reason I can think of to include them here is to be crudely dismissive of the show. DSC, sure. DIS, okay. STD? Seems like it's just trying to insult the show.

Discovery's titles are Ok, but I'm not at all enthralled with the choice of music They came up with.

Give me something a bit faster paced and more melodic on the ears please.
Or at the very least, resume the episode with explosions or bells or anything that might wake me up once the titles are finished.

It seems to be used only by people who don't like it.
I've seen the t-shirts. I know it's DISCO

I believe CBS calls it STD (unless that changed)
The title sequence is waaay too long, almost a full minute and a half. Trim it down to 60 seconds and im happy

CBS calls it DSC, they never called it STD.
I remember seeing STD floating around a lot last fall, I'm pretty sure it was used in official settings briefly, even if not from CBS directly, until they got a clue.
