Should I Be Ashamed as a TOS fan to like the Rebooted Movies?

^^My point is it would feel more natural if they just used the "Enterprising Young Men" tune in the end credits than it does using Courage's TOS theme. At least the TNG movies used Goldsmith's TMP theme* during the movies, making it natural to use them in the closing credits.

*I am aware that the TNG movies actually use the variant of the theme Goldsmith created for TFF, but for some reason the credits still list as being from TMP.

I don't mind the use of the Courage theme in the Nu movies, but the arrangement is so blaring and repetitive that I find myself hating it.

It seems like those two things aren't compatible. Yes, TOS is my favorite series.

The concept that I liked about the new ones is that they were entertaining and thrilling. Sure, they weren't philosophical, but that is really hard to do at the same time. Movies are supposed to be thrilling. The only really thrilling movie from the original universe is Star Trek: First Contact.
I've been a fan since about 75 and I love the rebooted movies!!

For what's worth, this is not just a Trekkie thing. Ask some GODZILLA fans about latest reboot, or the new trailer that debuted yesterday, and watch the various factions start blasting radioactive fire at each other. :)

All fandoms have their sectarian wars at times . ... .

You should be ashamed if you DON'T like it. Go stand in the corner.

It seems like Godzilla gets completely rebooted about every five or ten years, with everything prior being disregarded except for the very first film. It's similar with various anime. But imagine the uproar if this was standard procedure for the Trek franchise!

Nope you shouldn't feel ashamed. Like what you want that's the beauty of entertainment. I love TOS and it is still to this day my favorite version of Trek hands down. Some of my friends think TOS is old and boring but they humor my still ongoing obsession with it. I will admit I really can't stand the NuTrek movies but I can see why people like them which is the action and obviously the effects. One think the NuTrek films have given me has been a healthy debate with a friend of mine about which one is better. TOS or NuTrek. He cannot stand TOS and will argue about story, effects, mindless action etc. Basically like what you want and have fun with it. That's what its there for.
