Should Harry Mudd actor Rainn Wilson return for Strange New Worlds?

Yeah, why not.
I'm up for any of the TOS guest stars appearing if apropos.

Nah no more Mudd. Snw has set their version as Angel so thats enough of a recurring pirate /con type character. Let's see more new characters.

I think They need to bring back some of Mudd's buffoonery.
DISCOVERY went way too far into his dark side.
(that season overall was way too dork for my tastes)

OOps.... dark was what I meant, but DISCOVERY could use a bit more dorkery as well.

I like Mudd. I much, much prefer Rainn Wilson's version over the incredibly campy TOS version by Roger C. Carmel. I think this new version would fit into SNW really well.

They went to far basically making Mudd a murderer. He was never that in tos.

I don’t really buy in to the view that because we didn’t see somebody take action during the time period covered by one show they couldn’t have taken an action in the time period covered by another show.

Dude was not a nice man in TOS. He had Norman hijack the Enterprise with a bomb.

Was that ever the 'real' Mudd though, or one of his droids. One confirmed droid in the Short Trek was wearing the same coat 'he' wore on TOS.

"Did Harry Mudd murder Leo Walsh?"

Perhaps, in a way. I wonder if Harry Mudd is just a pseudonym Leo Walsh created as cover.

Either way, he needs to, along with Angel and Sybok, to be continually brought back as one of the major antagonists secretly pulling strings to stir the pot between all the superpowers during this time frame, imo.

Harry was never into galaxy-wide schemes.
He was always about just lining his own pockets.
He and Angel at best, would be 'Frenemies' constantly conniving behind each others back.

Plus I doubt Sybok at that point in time would approve of Angel associating with anybody he'd probably consider a lowlife thief.

Yes, we can explore his character further. In particular in relation to his… ‘human trafficking’ activities..

Oh, not this :censored: again...

For the last :censored:ing time, Harry was not a human trafficker. In "Mudd's Women", he operated basically as a 23rd-century Asa Mercer.

Harry was not a human trafficker. In "Mudd's Women"

Technicalities… perhaps not a ‘human trafficker’, it was never specified which species his women were. Let’s settle for ‘alien trafficker’. I can’t remember if he traffics ‘androids’ yet. ‘Android trafficker’ *might* be ok as long as they were not classed as sentient androids aka as defined in ‘Measure of a Man’. Maybe they can do an episode where Mudd/Leo Walsh is put on trial for ‘android trafficking’ and a Maddox ancestor has to defend him in court. This character can be played by Brian Brophy? Or Brent Spiner. :D

"Trafficking" is a loaded word that does not apply here.

If the women were held against their will, or forced to perform actions which they would not normally do, then that would be trafficking. But that's not what happened. All Harry did was put women who wanted husbands, in touch with men who wanted wives. That is not trafficking.

But he was also supplying an addictive drug to these ladies. This could have given Mudd a form of control over his women, especially if the women were vulnerable in the first place? They were obviously ‘reliant’ on the drug that he was providing to them. They would have still needed the drug when they had been given to husbands, unless their husbands would learn to love them for who they truly are eventually?

As for Mudd’s androids, Brent Spiner *could* be involved… perhaps a Soong helped to design them? Maddox could still be involved though if it ever went to court… :D
