That's nothing. Look up what the D-7 looks like in Disco and then you'll really see why people are screaming alternate universe. If that’s what the TOS Enterprise looks like in Discovery, no wonder people are screaming alternate universe!

Actually, October is an old image of Gabriel Köerner's Enterprise redesign. Like, really old. Which I don't mind, because I wasn't comfortable with being, as far as I know, the person who got the oldest picture into SotL. Thanks, Gabe!
Trek Collective has some larger pictures than Amazon.
I can’t even find an image. All I can find is something that looks like the Vulcan ship from “First Contact”.That's nothing. Look up what the D-7 looks like in Disco and then you'll really see why people are screaming alternate universe.
Honestly, it irks me whenever they reuse images in the Ships of the Line calendar. But my folks have been gifting it to me every year since 2003 or so, so I'm in the minority of people who have gotten it consistently and would notice.
EDIT: Or am I remembering incorrectly that this has been used in the calendar before? I remember seeing the image floating around pre-2009 though.
Here we are:I can’t even find an image. All I can find is something that looks like the Vulcan ship from “First Contact”.
Shenzhou is NOT older than Discovery.
Reminds me of that alien creature from DS9’s Q episode. One of the 3D modelers put up some untextured renders of some models (apparently prematurely, since they've been pulled offline). Here's a clearer view of the new D7.
It's a shame they felt the need to do that. It's look was part of its charm I thought, and all the other Star Trek shows made sure that it looked correct when they went back to that time.Visual reboot. The simple looking 1960s designs would not hold up today as a futuristic spaceship
Same universe, different look.
It is.Shenzhou is NOT older than Discovery.
Because those were homages. They didn't take place solely in that era. It's a shame they felt the need to do that. It's look was part of its charm I thought, and all the other Star Trek shows made sure that it looked correct when they went back to that time.
I'm betting on "top-to-bottom refit" where the Glenn and Discovery were concerned.

They go up over time but there are many discrepancies with many of the ships. Would be interesting if a writer could explain them. Come up with some wacky explanation for them.
It would appear so. And even then, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that cover image is itself just a placeholder. Is the new DS9 just on the cover then?
