SHATNER speaks about TREK 11 today!

Begins with, "I really don't have anything to do with Star Trek...I don't do comeos." "I've not been offered or even suggested...a cameo I can't imagine" Towards the end, "What would inhibit them?" (from him appearing/starring) "They can ressurrect dinosaurs...I've only been dead for 10 (years).

I love the first part he seems pissed or not in the mood to talk

WS-"I don't have anything to do with Star Trek"
*chuckles*
Reporter- they, they say whoever they are, that you have a cameo role
WS "well that comes as news to me"
Reporter- is is that true?
WS- No No not as far as I know
Reporter- It says right here..
WS- I don't do cameos

the reporter seems intimidated and scared lol

He's essentially saying that no one has come to him regarding a small cameo in Trek XI. Apparently Leonard Nimoy plays a functional part in the movie. He doubts that he will be brought on board, since it's October and shooting begins in November. Then he asks "What would inhibit them [to bring back Shatner as Kirk]? If you can use DNA to bring back dinosaurs, surely you can do that. They've been dead millions of years, I've only been dead 10! [laughter]"

My favorite part was at the end where he says "If you can get DNA from a dinosaur - which we apparently are ready to do - and resurrect that..."

The guy has a genuine wit, god bless 'im.

Evidently it's more difficult to retrieve the constituent elements of velour and toupees.

"We are very pleased!"

Oh wait.

"I am very disappointed." Yeah that's it. He was disappointed because Lenny is in the film and he's not.

that was kinda funny. meaning, funny in a sad way. for once, he wasn't "on". he was just telling it like it is. he IS disappointed. a bit down about the whole thing, maybe.

unless... unless it's all a great, big, frickin' put on. for our benefit.

I wouldn't put it past them.

I remember that during the shooting of NEM, Entertainment Tonight was on the set and Jonathan Frakes denied hearing anything about a castmember dying. More recently, there was the whole Katee Sackhoff thing.

Mind Games. I forgot what they were like.

Here's what "Paul," who works on Shatner's web stuff and filmed him for this interview this morning, has to say about it over on trekmovie.com:

Bill isn't on Ain't it cool news posting comments that he is in the movie and then having a flurry of news reports online trumpet it based on that one little comment as if it was gospel.

As for WHY it was done today; I was scheduled to film Bill today and the timing of the Pine signing and these news stories were just timely. If you don't believe me go to the WilliamShatner.com board and see my post asking fans what Burning issues they have as I was going to be filming the next segment of ShatnerVision.

The double edged sword in this is; i Bill doesn't comment on the movie rumours - fans post he's hiding something and think he's definitely in the movie
We post a defacto, definitive video saying "No he's not"; and fans still post that he's ego driven to be in the movie or that it's some big charade and he really is not in the movie.

It's ultimately a game that can't be won. With ShatnerVision we give the audience what they want and leave it to you to interpret but I think it's pretty clear that as of 1PM PT today - William Shatner did not consider himself to be in the movie.

Why isn't Ain't It Cool putting a huge story up? Didn't they scoop everyone in this? Instead it's a footnote commentary on the Pine announcement and there's been NOTHING else since.

Maybe because Bill Shatner is NOT in the movie???

That would be a real revelation; wouldn't it?

So it's not a cameo. Must be a bigger part :rommie:

It's all a big cover up for the super secret storyline where young Kirk uses the Rambaldi box and discovers old Kirk is the 12th Cylon.

Y'know, spoiler warnings take so little trouble...

I don't know. I just don't know. Why doesn't he just get all the speculation overwith and call "Entertainment Tonight" or make a press release to "Variety" saying, "I definitely have nothing to do with this movie. Not a thing. I'm not in it at all."
After all, if he's definitely not going to be in it, then at some point allowing the rumors that he might appear to continue becomes counterproductive, doesn't it?

Well, to be fair, no CAST MEMBER died in Nemesis. A CHARACTER did...

If a CAST MEMBER died, that would've been big news indeed.

"During the filming of Star Trek Nemesis, Brent Spiner was run over by a catering truck."

So, what he said was actually correct and accurate. ;)

with flashbacks from every character for the next two hours and Spock screaming to personnal abouting going back into the past

"we've have to go back!!!"
;)

Believe he's not in the movie when you've seen it.

No one in Hollywood has ever said anything untrue.

Wanna sell that bridge? Here's some fire water.

It doesn't make sense for Nimoy to be in the movie but not Shatner. Seems to me you either have both in it, or neither.
