Quite frankly, I don't want him in the new movie or the new series.
The new movie should stand on its own, having Spock in the first one was good but his appearance in into Darkness made me groan. The third one should be cameo free.
The new series can have a cameo (because it will be a series so a one episode thing is just a one episode thing), but I'd rather have someone from TNG, that cast is relatively well known outside of fan circles, so the cameo would still mean something. I'm against Shatner for two reasons, in the prime universe Kirk is dead and buried and in the JJ verse he's Chris Pine (and let's be honest, if the series takes place there a nuCast cameo would be the most logical)
I do not want Nichols or Takei anywhere near Star Trek ever again, those two unsympathetic tools are overestimating their own importance waaaaaay too much and Takei's appearance on Voyager was already too much for me to take. I could almost read his thoughts when I looked at his smug face "Eat shit, Shatner! I'm in the captain's chair now ... if I do this right "Captain Sulu" will happen ... MUST.ACT.CAPTAINLY!!!", he was auditioning for Captain Sulu so hard he forgot to act on Voyager.
I don't want Koenig either but unlike Nichols and Takei I do not dislike him, so I left him out of the rant.
If they do a 50th anniversary special Shatner would be the first (and only) TOS cast member I'd invite, the other surviving cast members should not share a stage with him as if they had the same impact as him, this may sound petty but things like that annoy me.
This reminds me of the time The Facts of Life got a TV Land award, you know who was there? Mrs Garett and all four girls! Also Cloris Leachman who was only a part of the show duri g the bad last two years but whatever, she was a main character and she's also Cloris Leachman.
You know who was also on stage grabbing an award? Cousin Geri! Blair's unfunny "comedian" cousin who had cerebral palsy and made cerebral palsy jokes ("I'm not drunk, I have cerebral paaaalsy! Tehehehe"), she appeared in 5 or 6 episodes over nine seasons and there she is standing next to these six women who actually starred on the show as if she belongs there.
