I'm not sure about this. Shatner's too sanguine. Too flip about being shut out of the film. Shatner has said some off-hand things about the movie in the past that were, well, inaccurate or uninformed. After all, he's not one to let the facts stand in the way of a good yarn.
When would this conversation with Nimoy have to had taken place, anyway? Recently, no? Yet, in the interview, Shatner calls Nimoy after hearing about the movie and says, "Leonard, have you heard?" Phrasing it that way makes sense only if it's the first time he's contacting Nimoy about the movie, or maybe it's just after it was officially green-lighted.
In any case, I truly wonder if Nimoy has read the script. And frankly, if Shatner's story is true, that would be a rather cold way of telling him he's not in it. If Nimoy said those things, it sounds more like he was yanking Shatner's chain than telling him the truth.
One last thing. Shatner doesn't shy away from drawing attention to himself, but wouldn't he even be "corporate" enough to not leak (or blab about) such a big story as Nimoy appearing in the movie but not him?
I'll believe this when there's a real press release from Abrams or Nimoy's representatives about it.
Franklin -- skeptical.
