Finally saw it. Overall pretty good. I could have done without Trevor. That just didn't work. The big CGI moments at the end got a bit messy. I couldn't really tell what the white dragon was doing. Was it suffocating the dark soul eating? Was it manifesting water fists to punch?

I loved the movie for the most part. They probably could have edited out 20 minutes or so. I also thought that final battle went on for too long and that Trevor didn't really work. There was already some great comedy from Wong and Katy. I thought Awkwafina was going to be playing an annoying character, but I really liked her in this. I know she learned Chinese for The Farewell so it was funny that she just continually spoke English even though people tried to converse with her in Chinese. I'm definitely up for a sequel.

Annoying how the blu rays aren’t IMAX optimised. Seems like a waste to have that on a streaming service

It says present day but don’t they mean 2023/2024? They forgot about the five year jump.

Present day in the MCU (and in 3 years it won't matter. ;))

Could be a bit clearer. The MCU has a habit of getting dates wrong

I don't often watch MCU films with a calendar.

Then you’re not doing it right. Each film needs to be put in their specific place in that calendar

That makes the Gagnam Style reference make a lot more sense, along with Shang-Chi's age.

Speaking of which, they never mention if they got blipped or not. I assume they didn’t.

They're not rings. Rings go on fingers. They're bangles.

I really enjoyed this, it had some great humor thanks to the chemistry between Katy and Shang-Chi. The whole "Katy becomes an amazing archer in a day," thing was a little cringe-worthy, but I did like her character. She was refreshing and kept the movie grounded amidst the cgi and the fantastical storyline. Tony Leung always looks good, and the fight scenes were so much fun to watch.

    More please!

I do wish they had set up Katy's archery a bit more. A quick line in that scene when she and Shaun were talking with her family, one of them saying something about how maybe she could have been an Olympic archer if she'd kept up with it, would have sufficed.

This movie was great. Loved Katy and Shang Chi's chemistry. Fight scenes were great and really enjoyed the Chinese mythology woven in.
