Yeah, this ep seemed to kick it up a notch, though I can't quite put my finger on why.

Liked Greer in this ep, and Rush too. Both came off as the kind of strong guys they need rather than the arseholes they have been.

When Chloe first died my first thought waws "Whoa!" My second thought was, "So that's why they kept Chloe alive!". :D

That was the ep that'll keep me watching. If it had been another one like the last couple of weeks I think I'd be dropping it.

No sequel next week? :wtf: And Earth Pt 2? Blah. I reserve the right to change my mind.

Best episode of SG:U so far for me. Nice mix of drama, character moments and gunplay  Ok so it featured a reset but as time travel epsiodes go it was nicely thought out and a little different, and that's all you can expect these days with most stories already having been done to death.

Aside from his desert island films Eli was good. Greer continues to be the most compelling character and Rush,Scott and TJ continue to grow.

Shame about Chloe but if she died it meant Lt James died...unacceptable!

One thing I loved was that after they failed the second time, it was Lt Scott who decided to lob another Kino through, though I saw the reset coming I was expecting the brains of the outfit back on Destiny to do that, so it was a nice twist to have soldier boy come up with it. Oh, and given Scott's reaction to Chloe's death it may be that she is more than just a notch on his bed post.

I was really surprised when I came on here and discovered that the fade to black was meant to mean that they had solved and they're doing Earth 2.0 instead (not so long after the first one), rather than there was going to be a part 2.

I thought that they did the fade to black with the first few credits screens like fuzzy Kino shots were a spicey new way to say 'to be continued'.

^ We don't need a part 2. The ending was brilliant. The solution was found and we know that everything will be alright.

Exactly. We don't need a whole episde of them going to a planet, grabbing one of those things, bringing it back, sucking out the venom and making an innoculation.

So, basically, all the character building and growth we just had in this episode was all reset and washed away. I absolutely hate that. I hate resets. Blah

That's my fear too. But I'm not sure that'll happen this time, because they've all SEEN what happened. They'll remember it. They watched it in real time, and experienced it vicariously.

So they may get to keep their characters' growth. We'll have to wait and see.

Hmm the 'real' timeline people (ie the third try, timeline #3) may only have found Scott's kino - the first one with all the footage on was never sent back the 'second' time. So it depends on whether the paradox that is created allows the original kino to be on the planet in timeline #3 even though it wasn't sent back during timeline #2.

Theoretically, it must be, or it would have disappeared when they changed the future by leaving in timeline #2. That is to say, timeline #3 would never have happened without timeline #2, which was only different because of the kino from timeline #1. Therefore, the original kino must be protected from the paradox and would be found and viewed by the crew in timeline #3 as it was in #2.

All clear?

Earlier in the thread, a link was posted to a Kinosode establishing that the final timeline did find both Kinos.

Exactly. We don't need a whole episode of them going to a planet, grabbing one of those things, bringing it back, sucking out the venom and making an inoculation.
I agree. And in that case, it's a better episode for it. I wouldn't change the rating, but I hold it in higher regard.

It doesn't look like causality and other uber-geeky time travel stuff matters in SG:U. Items that travel back still exist even if the events that sent them never happened.

The only thing they have to worry about is watching the right damn kino first.

Well the clip thing after this shows they watched the right one so their not screwed.

I can't believe I've read through this entire thread and seen nary a mention of how the snakes on the jungle planet weren't just any old snakes...

They were symbiotes!
That thought occured to me for a split second when I saw one get shot, then I forgot about it.

I'm positive they were symbiotes. The look, the sounds, the way the burrowed into the chests of anybody they came into contact with.

The question is: Was it little more than a wink to fans... or does it actually mean something within the context of the show?

I'm not convinced they were symbiotes. They burrowed into Chloe's chest, but then killed her and jumped out her back. My guess is, it ate her heart and left to find more.

They really didn't look anything like goa'uld. Wrong skin texture, wrong color, too big, and their bottom half was a mass of tentacles with a mouth in the center. You can get some good shots of the practical puppets here

While there's nothing that dictates all symbiotes must look a certain way, seeing those shots of the puppet in the light do dissaude me a bit. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, to be fair the detail of the puppet did not come across on the show - I was on board with the 'they looked like Goa'uld' until I saw those pics.
