Re: SG-U

So did Destiny detect the infection and open a wormhole to the planet with the cure?

I think that's exactly what happened. I am really looking forward to meeting the A.I. when they get around to it.

So far it puts my favorite A.I., Amdomeda's Rommie, to shame.

I agree with those who thought that this episode actually felt like Stargate; I hope it's a sign that they'll be restoring that aesthetic on a permanent basis.
I hope not for two reasons. One, I don't want to see the old Stargate. I came back because this wasn't the old Stargate. I'm in the mood for something new that captures a level of seriousness and naturalism that SG-1 and Atlantis didn't. And two, tweaking and retooling almost never helps a show. This episode was good though. About the only thing I didn't like was the jungle set. I wish they would have gone out on location.

Eli was confessing that he loves Cloe and T.J. was trying (unsuccessfully) not to cry.
Not at first, or so it appeared.

Jeeze, I'm so sick of people misinterpreting that scene. She's not snickering. She's trying not to cry. Kelso got it. Some people just smile a little when they're sad or uncomfortable with a situation. It's not a 'ha-ha' smile, it's an involuntary expression of anxiety, a grimace.
I saw the episode a second time and I'll say that you're right, though on my first viewing it did look like she was kind of amused at Eli spilling his guts. And like I said, that was at first. I know she was trying not to cry the rest of the time.

Question is, does Destiny had a AI or is it a former member (members) of the Ancient crew ascended but trapped inside the computer.

Looks like they need more water again.

If they added the ice to their existing water supply, it's all tainted. I suppose they can add the venom to the water to kill the infection, but who knows what long term consumption of the venom would do?
I think they'd all have to inject the venom into their bloodstreams to kill the existing infection and/or build up a resistence. As far as I know, dumping it in the water supply won't do anything.

I wonder why they or the ship can't just boil the water.

They said is that a single piece of ice must have gotten past their purification procedure and tainted the whole; they never said they couldn't fix that. And they didn't seem at all worried about doing so, either.

I almost wept when Lt. Titties died. Then Chloe died and I knew it would be the big reset for everybody.
Pretty much. I was gobsmacked when the blanket got pulled over Lt. James' face, but groaned when Chloe kicked the bucket as well. I guess I'll add my name to the list of people annoyed with how the reset played out. I would have liked it if it wasn't a total reset and we found out definitively that the latest iteration of the Destiny crew got both Kinos, so we didn't totally lose the character and relationship development that grew from watching the original recording. Or that we saw any character development at all come from Scott's recording. But as it stands, the ending of the ep is just a plot device getting the characters from point A to point B, when before this episode we were unaware there was even a point A (the infected water).

Still, that's just taking points off an otherwise great episode.

I remember reading that they had plans for Lt. James, so seeing her die was the point I started to wonder if there was going to be a reset.

You've got your wish.

I gave it a 6. The camera work at the beginning started out as interesting and quickly went to annoying.

The plot was interesting and I was disappointed I didn't pick up on the time travel when the event horizon started freaking out. So that was enjoyable.

Excellent ending as it was spelled out enough and we didn't need to see it.

I still can't stand the Rush charater and don't care about anyone except for the 'boy' wonder. And he only marginally.

It needed some RDA.

Why? So Jack could ask "Is there cake?" in the middle of a serious scene?

He's pretty much back to his original Jack, pre-S8, now.

If anything Jack's now post season eight for good, since he's no longer an exec. producer he has to stick to the scripts and not adlib now.

Gave the episode a 9. As mentioned up thread, it was the first episode that actually felt like star gate to me. I also couldn't see where the episode was going. It was a great episode over all

Can someone explain something to me?

Didn't the "static" in the wormhole last right to the very end of the gateback window in one of the earlier timelines?

If that's the case, then how in the world did they eventually manage to gate to the planet, find the Kino recording, capture one or more of the squids, and gate back to Destiny before the solar flare turned the stargate into a time machine and trapped them there?

The "static" meant that anything going through went back in time. So the first time, they went through, tossed the kino and Rush back in time, then everyone died. The second time, they came through and found the kino and Rush's skull. They returned to the ship before the flare started interfering with gate travel. Then they sent a collection team through to collect a creature before the flare began, but they failed and everyone died. Before they all died, they sent a second kino back in time with revised instructions. The third time (we presume and based on a webisode), they came through and found two kinos, collected the creatures in the daytime, and left the planet with everyone alive.

^ I wonder if the third time through they took the time to collect food anyway, like the original plan. Afterall, they would know that the illness wasn't from the planet, that the alien creatures were nocturnal, and that they had a fair amount of time before the flare started up. So for a while at least, they'd be pretty safe.

Or would it take too long watching the video before they realised it was "safe"?
