Series 9 - Coming September 19! (And a trailer!)

^Looks like a crossover with Vikings. :)

Australian start date for series 9 is 20 September. Saw an ad on ABC. It didn't give a time slot. Hopefully they simulcast again.

I wish. Just seeing Ragnar's non-verbal reaction to the TARDIS alone would make it worth it.
Forget Ragnar's reaction. It's Floki's insane reaction to the TARDIS I want to see.

Heheh. That would be great too.

People are mostly keeping quiet but some Spoilers (or more accurately confirmations) from tonight's screening of Episode 1.

As guessed by the casting The Shadow Proclamation and Sisterhood of Karn return. Dorium's Bar also appears but no Dorium.

I really don't get why Moffat (and even RTD) felt it necessary to even give this notion the time of day.

The Doctor meets a whole lot of people, he remembers what a whole lot of them look like and when he regenerates the process sometimes uses those remembrances as a template. Job done!

I'm currently reading the "Time Trips" short story anthology. In one of the stories, the 10th Doctor meets a woman that looks exactly like Christina de Souza (from "Planet of the Dead") and even has the same name. (I haven't finished it yet.) As the Doctor ruminates on this, he notes that this sort of thing happens all the time. "It was a consequence of spending hundreds of years drifting through time: faces got a bit recurrent. There'd been a flautist in Basingstoke who was the spitting image of Ivan the Terrible."

So Jenna is on holiday in France today while the read-through for the Xmas Special was happening and has a US Convention and stint on the Raindance judging panel coming up in September when it will be shooting.

I'd ask for suggestions for the Series 10 Companion but depending on how long away that is they could still be in school at the moment.

What if she died? What if, after all this time, it turns out she was a Splinter Clara all along, and once again the Doctor fails to save her.

I have to admit, I've toyed with the idea, given the way "Last Christmas" ends, that the Clara the Doctor takes away with him is not the "original" Clara but rather one of the splinters.

The thing is, as interesting as that idea is, I just can't see Moffat doing anything like that.

Really? Because that's EXACTLY the kind of thing I could see Moffat doing.

Truthfully, I'm still shocked that "The Girl in the Shop" didn't turn out to be Sally Sparrow. Moffat loves to tie all of his little ideas together.

I could see it like this

The doctor's lost Clara. He's distressed.

Some time near the end of the episode a woman runs past him.

It's a splinter Clara working at a restaurant. She's off the save the 13th doctor!

The doctor smiles and says a few final words.

The Doctor- You run. My impossible girl.

Why would a splinter Clara be going to save the 13th Doctor? I thought that she just splintered to save The Doctors who existed in the 11th Doctor's timeline, so that would be the incarnations before the 11th (and obviously the 11th Doctor himself). I don't think she splintered to include the Doctors after 11.

The "grave" on Trenzalore was the Doctor's entire timeline, from birth to death. Though history was changed and he didn't actually die on Trenzalore (so far, anyway), Clara still splintered all throughout his timeline.

Anything's possible, really. For all we know the Doctor will still eventually return to Trenzalore at some point in his life, and that's where he will die. He spent, what, 900 years there? Maybe he will eventually decide that that's where he wants to be buried.
