Series 12 News & Spoilers

Alternate theory I read, that the Time Lords have cloned the Doctor and the Master to fight in the/a war.
Which sounds believable as a reason for the Master to be pissed off enough to nuke the whole lot.
Would also explain how he comes back without explanation all the time.
So, the other Doctor could be real, but separate lives, no direct lineage.

I like that one too. It would sort of fit with this Doctor being a little more cut-throat and hand combaty. Sort of designed for war.

But, then the Third Doctor liked his hand to hand... and the Seventh, well, practically wore the t-shirt-- "I will make you kill yourself."... But would either of them tear off the horn of a Judoon?

That's a great point. It reminds me of what felt like programming that was being activated during that fight. She wasn't in control of her hands. Reminiscent of a scene from Picard actually.

If it was programming, who programmed her to be violent? The Time Lords? I also wondered if Gat was programmed to kill RuthDoc based on the knowledge of the destruction of Gallifrey? Our Doctor wondered about that.

Could all this be Rassilon's revenge? He had a lot more power than was shown when the Doctor chased him off Gallifrey.

I'd like to see the return of Rassilon, Omega and we may have already seen The Other as a pre-Hartnell Doctor who may or may not remember what she was before that.

I think The Third Doctor but only in self-defense and as a last resort, i.e. contrary to what The Ruth Doctor did.

Speaking of the Other, was that character gender specific? I've never read Lungbarrow.

Well... I don't know if I would say what Doctor Ruth did wasn't in self-defense. She had a lot of armed creatures pointing their weapons at her. Maybe the horn was a bit much, but... I think a case could be made for self-defense on her part AND she stopped when she was no longer in danger...

Oops the BBC might have given away something the didn't mean to. This behind-the-scenes video reveals that Barrowman's scenes were shot by Jamie Stone, who directed the series finale and not Nida Manzoor who directed the rest of the episode.

That would make sense, shooting all of Barrowman's scenes as closely together. While they may have revealed he's in the finally, the greater thing they kept under wrap was Barrowman appearing at all. I'm not surprised he's in the finale. It would make the most sense.

“The important thing to say is – she is definitively the Doctor,” he explained. “There's not a sort of parallel universe going on, there's no tricks."

That's not entirely true. There is a trick or we would've known about this Doctor before. Either a memory has been wiped or something (she could be a later incarnation that had her memory wiped). But, there's a trick. We just haven't figured out which trick it is.

That is the mystery about why the Doctor does not remember this doctor - it is clear that CC intends no mystery that this is the Doctor.

I haven't read that specifically, but the Wiki entry for The Other refers to a "he". Even the Lungbarrow book was from 2003, before they went ahead with any gender changes, so it could go either way.

That's a fair shake. It's still off-putting but I'll accept that explanation.

Indeed. Honestly, I would be more shocked (and extremely disappointed) if he wasn't in the finale).

Hm, okay. But who knows, maybe The Other is a she now. Or something (blame the looms, that's it!).

In that Mirror article listed above, Chibnall says flat out we're not seeing Captain Jack again this year.

Article is pretty messed up. Claims it's the real Doctor. Ok, but then says maybe between the 2nd and 3rd because Ruth didn't recognize the sonic screwdriver. Um. Troughton was the first with the sonic! At least they got the thing about Hartnell being the first with the Police Box shape. And, Jack not showing up again this year? Sounds like the director of the finale shot his scenes . . . um. Oops. And, even if it were true, how stupid to not have Jack meet the Doctor. I can't believe they'd pass that up.

Stuff isn't adding up. Not sure what the truth is, but it's not all the straight scoop.

I would also say that a Doctor from an alternate universe is a real Doctor . . . from that universe. Just like Pete was the real Pete from his universe.

Guesswork by author of article.

That could write such a Doctor in the future - this is not that doctor. This Doctor is our Doctor.

Rule #1, the showrunner lies.
