Sense8 Christmas Special and Season 2 Release Date Announced

Pretty amazed by this. Not sure how much they can cover in a two-hour special, though, besides resolving the cliffhanger.

Well, that's a relief. Wachowski's letter leaves open the prospect of more beyond this special, but I hope they do it in a way that resolves the main arcs and provides closure, rather than ending on a cliffhanger.

Her letter does but the video on Netflix US' Twitter feed makes it clear that it's a finale.

Those aren't mutually exclusive. It's always possible to do a finale in a way that leaves room for new stories to follow. The end of the TV series doesn't necessarily mean the end of the franchise; there could be a feature film, or a comic book, or whatever.

Man, they really like that song.

JMS has said that a comic or novel was unlikely. But then, as recently as the night of the 19th/20th, he said there were no plans or conversations regarding a special. In fact, I'm very interested to see what he'll say about this.

I think it's mostly that fans have latched on to it as an anthem of sorts. I read that there were fans in Positano who sang it outside of the cast's hotel.

Cool, I didn't know there was a longer version, the shorter one gets right to the point.

Better to tell a white lie and say, "I'm sorry", than to say something you're not supposed to and screw up the deal.

He mentioned that he avoided answering questions about a 2-hour special but I think he was reading too fast the night I mentioned because that was exactly what he was answering. Ordinarily he simply doesn't answer questions rather than even telling a 'white lie'.

He's got more patience than I ever would though. Fans are 'schooling' him for being too negative.

A behind-the-scenes look at the finale, which doubles as a big thank you from the cast to the fans:

Having watched up to 2x4 a few months ago, I just watched 2x5, "Fear Never Fixed Anything," and... Christ, was that boring! All the individual sensates' melodramas are dull and repetitive. The "e-death in a USB stick" concept was stupid in The Dark Knight Rises, and hasn't improved since then. Meanwhile, I get the gist, but none of the substance, of the religious arguments in India, the gang war dynamics in Germany, or whatever the heck is going on in Africa. Sense8, I officially give up. Goodbye. :p
