It would be a crazy (but original) idea to have actors from Discovery also in Section 31 as full time leads, but their Mirror Universe versions. If that ever was the case, they would need to film Section 31 between Discovery seasons.

As for the theories about the show--based on what we saw this week--it would definitely be something few saw coming! I'm a bit more interested in the idea of a Section 31 show now than I was when it was first announced (but anything with Michelle Yeoh, at this point, I'm going to watch).

IMHO what's more telling is they do not plan all of the existing Trek series to continue indefinitely. This is a logical thing to do, considering CBS's strategy of multiple short Trek series, but some people still seem to like to presume every show will get seven series.

My guess is Discovery ends on its 5th season in 2023. Picard ends with its third in 2024.

I think Discovery might run a little longer. Kurtzman, even recently, said he could see this specific show run for 7 or more seasons. Picard will end after three seasons, I remember that was more or less said before production even started.
