Season One

Well, let see...

Caretaker - solid storyline despite some convulted elements, but then, practically all Star Trek pilots are great.

Parallax - Fine devolepment of B´Elanna but the story is huge step down in quality. Anomaly of the week and not very interesting one.

Time and again - Super humanoid aliens using arabic numbers and even describing their chronology to people they think are their own kind. Time travel story with reset button. It´s geek´s nightmare and sub-standard TNG.

Phage - The first solid story after the pilot. Vidians are intriguin concept like villians of absolutely different kind than Kazons. Their need of stealing organs is however inconsistent with their supposed level of development... ¨

The Cloud - TNG for pre-school children.

Eye of the Needle - Too early to use known race and too early to use the false promise of return.

Ex post Facto - The weak DS9 episode.

Emanations - Not too mach intriguing. Braga is one of those atheists who are fascinated by religion but he sucks in it.

Prime factors - Altough the ending is predictable the idea of Voyager being forced to submit under alien Prime directive is quite clever. Another S1 favorite of mine.

State of Flux - Seska shows her true cardassian colors. Excellent!!

Heroes and Demons - Start of devolepment for Doctor. However, for a price of mysterious alien force playing with Holodeck. Pity.

Cathexis - Season 3 TOS episode.

Faces - Like many Star Trek installments about cloning/genetics, this one is going far beyond borders of absurdity. Only positive is probably seeing two different B´Elannas which can give guy a few interesting ideas before sleep.

Jetrel - As you probably know, this was intentionaly done to replicate DS9´s Duet. It isn´t on the same level but far from being bad.

Learning Curve - I don´t remember this one much. I think it was tolerable though.

So, it seems I like 6 out of 15 stories. Pretty bad start.

Good points.
I think an attempt at a mutiny by a tiny minority would have been a fun episode, that way (from their perspective) they'd have Voyager but just like was said in the training programme "wont be stopping to investigate every insignifigant anomoly", and they'd have Voyager to ait the Maquis if they got back.
Could have shown the majority of the Maquis turning against the idea and thus bonding more with the starfleet crew

Insurrection Alpha

Season one is on the weak side, as is season two. Season three gets better and everything is fantastic from then on

Prime Factors is probably my favourite S1 episode, just above Faces and Eye Of The Needle. Jetrel would have been classic if it weren't for the ending. State Of Flux was good too.

I really think they could have spun the Prime Directive issues presented in Prime Factors into something a lot more interesting for the rest of the season. Following this ep up with State Of Flux was an excellent move. Learning Curve, while not as great as it could have been, could have been put right after that.

It would have been thematically interesting.

Caretaker - Excellent pilot episode, the best ever in any series. The main characters are introduced in a very good way and the episode is exciting from beginning to end

Parallax - OK episode which make us learn more about the characters. Good interaction between Janeway and Torres

Time and again - Excellent episode! Exciting and spooky with an unexpected twist at the end. Some funny sequences too. One of the best season 1 episodes

Phage - Good and scary episode which introduces the Vidiians. Poor Neelix, you just had to feel sorry for him.

The Cloud - The "living nebula" is a bit over the top, otherwise a good episode which shows us a lot of the daily life on the ship.

Eye of the Needle - Good episode with a brilliant twist in the tale

Ex post Facto - Excellent detective story with Tom as falsely accused and Tuvok as the detective. One of the best episodes in season 1.

Emanations - The only weak episode in Season 1. Slow and rather boring. Besides that, I don't like when Braga tries to ram his atheist propaganda down my throat.

Prime factors - This is a good one. Interesting to see the Prime Directive from the other side of the spectrum.

State of Flux - This one is excellent. Seska is revealed as what she really is in an exiting episode.

Heroes and Demons - A temporary loss of inspiration for the writers? OK for being a first Doctor-centered episode though.

Cathexis - Good one. Spooky and exciting with some unexpected turns.

Faces - Very much over the top with Torres being split in two and restored back without problem. Still a very exciting episode.

Jetrel - Excellent episode which reveals that Neelix as a chararcter has more depth than expected. Great interaction between Neelix and Jetrel.

Learning Curve - Good and entertaining episode, maybe the scenario with the "bad behaving Maquis" could have continued for at leat one more episode. But still a good one with some funny moments too.

Final statement: Season 1 is one of Voyager's best seasons!
