News Season One hitting DVD/Blu-Ray in November

Better quality? They own it?

If it’s not 4K, I’ll wait to “own” it when it’s full series in one box set on some Black Friday sale. Whole 7 seasons of TNG was available for like $80 recently (or was it even less?)

There's just no real reason for CBS to release it on 4K. 4K is a niche of a niche product.

I think you misunderstood. My comment was directed more at questioning the generic "I won't give CBSAA a dime, but I'll wait for the BR set" crowd.

Given the costs involved...seems like a self-defeating stance if finances are truly the concern.

I think it is the same mindset. They don't want to give in to CBS' new service, so they wait for the tried and true format they love. I don't think finances figure into it for most folks.

4K should be the default in 2018 for any “premier” show. 8K is around the corner HD is hopelessly outdated by now for any brand new 2018 show

You still have a robust DVD market. Many, many folks don't care about picture quality or 22.1 Surround Sound. They want the cheapest possible product for something they'll likely only watch once or twice.

I'm not overly impressed by 4K/HDR (I own two 4K sets, two UHD players), but I still pick up 4K discs when the opportunity presents itself. But I'm definitely in the minority.

If something only releases in DVD/Blu-ray, I'm more than happy to grab the Blu-ray.

A vast majority of shows are still filmed at 1080p. If not the live action sequences, the FX.

This show is filmed, edited and mastered in Dolby Vision (4K HDR) with a 7.2 surround track. It'd be nice to get it on Blu-ray as such.

UK fans, we will probably have to wait a bit longer. Netflix doesn't allow its Original Series to go on Blu-ray until up to 18 months after the last episode is released online. They probably also mandate the US Blu-ray is region coded.

That said, Riverdale Season 2 has managed to get a UK DVD release cleared this month, so it might be allowed. Black Lightning however didn't, and that's from the same studio.

I'm tempted to wait a few years (assuming Blu-Ray's still around) and buy a complete series box set just like I have for ENT, TOS & TNG.
