To me it felt like the writers had no idea how to continue the story.I wonder if there was a delay in production?
The more I think about The Chase, the more I can't believe how fantastic all the Picard-Instructor stuff was, and then how wildly inconsistent and even silly the rest of the episode felt once the instructor died.
I like the scene where the klingon tries to headbutt Data, though.I also felt the villains in The Chase were pretty cheap. Bad choice for the Klingon, but it feels more like lazy Direction to me (Sorry Frakes) The Klingon's line on the bridge "I, will go with you." is especially badly delivered.
Would have been a better episode if it were fleshed out more with more clearly defined antagonists - the story was just too broad for a 40 min throw away show IMO and would have been better suited than Gambit for a two parter.
Man, I really thought the Klingon guy was painful to watch. Too bad because I was rather liking the idea, at first, that we had a Klingon in the episode, but it obviously didn't turn out so well.

The hologram was really beneath contempt. I was agreeing with the Klingon on that one.

I know.
I wasn't debating. I was just continuing the line of thought.
I guess some actors just don't make good Klingons. I'm not exactly sure what they look for when casting them, but maybe sometimes it just doesn't work out so well, the same for any role, I suppose.

My guess would be a wide forehead.![]()

You never know! My understaning was with actors playing Cardassians, they looked for guys with skinny necks!

And I wasn't trying to contradict what you said, just adding to it.

One who seemed really good, though got little air time, was that intermediary for Gowron Picard talked to onscreen in Unification, Part I. He seemed to exude individuality, and had a very interesting manner about him. I guess I'm saying he seemed like a person, not a stereotype.
Yes, it's easy to get into an argument over a misunderstanding.I know.

Ha! We both thought that the other was debating when we were just agreeing the whole time.
That's message boards for you.
The guy who said a cloaked vessel was no small favor? Yes, he was good.
TNG has a really good track record with Klingons. There have been tons of Klingons with speaking lines in TNG.
The Discount Klingon from The Chase is the only one I can think of that sucked.

I suppose it's all relative. If The Chase didn't have Bob the Discount Klingon, mark II, there would still be a thread here somewhere like "Who was TNG's crappiest Klingon?"
Now Bob mark II probably would've been fine in that Unification scene, as it was such a small part, which served its story purpose, and wasn't seen again. They guy they used was, in my opinion, almost too good. I wanted to see more of him.
I wish I could remember what show it was, but years ago I was watching something, and there was an actor who played a tiny role, one of those ubiquitous delivery men who come to the door with a package and say "Would you sign for this, please?". I was sure that guy was going to figure into the story somehow, because he was strangely distinctive and charismatic! Nope, he never did. For whatever reason, they just hired an actor who didn't blend into the background enough. I remember that because my brother thought the same thing as me.
They should retcon Bob, mark II as Col. Kras...
(Though I kinda like the name "Bob mark II"...nice job!)
