Um, I didn't think he was from the MU either. Pretty sure, any way. Life's a blur.

Well, a lot of people did have it predicted. Regardless, you at least didn't argue with everyone who thought he was from the MU telling them they were wrong, and then do an about face afterwards and say it was telegraphed. Which is the point I'm arguing against.

Fair enough. But, I doubt this going to go the way people think.

    Same here.

There was a photo shoot they did of Jason Issacs on the bridge set where they forgot to hide/change out the Mirror Discovery Dedication plaque

Though it's practically unreadable in the shots, you can just barely make out 'ISS', and the symbol above the name was not the Starfleet Delta.

Even this was on the potentially plausible level of red herring back then: we'd not gotten a Trek TV production for a long time, and fan-mindfucking shenanigans of this sort might have been a thing. But of course they weren't, and "Lorca is a damaged veteran" turned out to be the colorful fish instead. Which was cool.

But "telegraphing" was a thing, too. Only, it was done at the last possible juncture, with the "quality of light" cue and all - after the heroes already were on the flip side. None of the decaf-universe-side antics were intended to be read as cues until after the big reveal: we didn't know what an agonizer wound was supposed to look like, there was no previous indication that light would be different on the other side, and we had already had our share of perfectly regular Starfleet officers with ideas on supremacy and merciless determination and manipulative skills and whatnot. Plus there was the constant "somebody here is a Klingon in disguise" meta-banter going on, to draw attention away from Tyler.

Not a bad showing at all, in the end. And getting Georgiou/Yeoh back was a win-win, even if the following seasons didn't quite elevate it to a win-win-win.

Why not both? I mean if doctors can be bartenders, why not cooks?

And conversely, the chef can double as the counselor...

But if we introduce a fourth color, why stop there?

That shot of the pre-refit Discovery going to warp is from 'New Eden' in Season 2. Obviously the visual effects are not finished yet hence why they have reused a shot from 'Scavengers' as well.

Why would Discovery need a cook?

People don't like eating shit, which is what replicated food is, and that's now canon.

And yet they continue to eat from said replicators without any complaints whatsoever.

So I'll ask again: why do they need a cook?

And given that the uniforms are also replicated.... ;)

If you mean the 1701, then point taken.

In any case, that was just so "Charlie X" could do a throwaway joke. ;)
