I haven't gotten past the first episode. Nothing grips.
I watched the first season. Just didn’t click for me. Hard sci-fi is usually something I rather read vs. watch. Novels give room for explanations and allow things to breathe.

I have an on again/off again relationship with hard sci-fi. Some books work very well, but most go over long on explanations and I end up researching more than reading.I watched the first season. Haven't read those books.wouldn't really define The Expanse as a book series as hard sci-fi, more just accessible near-future space opera with a harder edge. They're basically all airport novels.
plotI don't see how a fire could possibly threaten the entire ship, when you have metal bulkheads separating levels and you can just turn off oxygen and create a firebreak.

St. Space's FireIt's space fire.
I don't see how a spacecraft could exceed light speed.
Because it couldn't.

That's just science. You see, it doesn't go faster than light. It burrows into subspace where they can cover great distances!![]()
An "off-duty window" typically refers to the 14-consecutive-hour limit under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) hours-of-service regulations for commercial truck drivers, during which a driver must complete all driving tasks following 10 consecutive hours off duty
In real-world usage, “off-duty” is much more common than “off-duty window.”
- Off-duty = not currently working or assigned to duty.
“The officer was off duty when the accident occurred.”- Off-duty hours = the period when someone isn't working.
“He can't be recalled during his off-duty hours without authorization.”- Off-duty period = more formal/administrative wording.
- Off-watch = particularly common in naval/maritime contexts, where personnel rotate through watches.
- Off-duty window = understandable, but sounds like organizational/operational jargon, meaning a specific opportunity during which someone is free from duty.
That doesn't look like a shore leaveSo kind of like bottle episode shore leave?
If they're still on the ship, that's the opposite of shore leave. So kind of like bottle episode shore leave?
