I watched the first season. Just didn’t click for me. Hard sci-fi is usually something I rather read vs. watch. Novels give room for explanations and allow things to breathe.

I have an on again/off again relationship with hard sci-fi. Some books work very well, but most go over long on explanations and I end up researching more than reading.
I wouldn't really define The Expanse as a book series as hard sci-fi, more just accessible near-future space opera with a harder edge. They're basically all airport novels.
The benefit of adapting hard sci-fi to TV, though, is you can use show not tell to show off the scientific rigor. No one needs to give the audience a physics lecture in universe.
In many ways, the series is better than the books - particularly because the villains of each installment are pretty mustache-twirling in text, and made more nuanced onscreen. I do think they cast a few dodgy actors who somewhat marred the series though.
Haven't read those books.

It's space fire.I don't see how a fire could possibly threaten the entire ship, when you have metal bulkheads separating levels and you can just turn off oxygen and create a firebreak.
