Season 3 - Xindi Arc - some of the best TREK ever!!

I like the idea of Shran meeting Archer in the expanse and them slowly gaining trust for each other, eventually teaming up in the expanse. I think it would have been cool to see a huge space battle with Kumari and NX-01 against the Xindi in Damage, with both ships taking heavy damage until the newly launched Columbia shows up. Columbia attempts to turn the tide, and does help, however, she begins to take severe damage, until we have one final Xindi ship against the trio of Ando-Earth ships. They manage to take out the Xindi ship, but not before Columbia takes a hit that blows a nacelle clean off, perhaps even further damage than that, but still leaving some survivors. Both Kumari and Enterprise take on survivors from Columbia and salvage what they can from whats left of it to make basic repairs on their own ship (so Archer doesn't steal parts from the other ship that comes in the sector later)

I rank season 3 of Enterprise #1 out of the 25 seasons of modern Trek, so I wholeheartedly agree! :bolian:

I liked the bits of quiet continuity that paid off in the later episodes. I know a lot of it was luck, but it made almost every episode important in some way. Even the less exciting eps planted seeds, like The Shipment sort of sits there in the background until near the end of the season, and then one of the plot points just resurfaces and becomes important. That's what made re-watching the season so cool.

yea, the Xindi arc was good, good writing and acting. you have to stick with it, itsa long one but worth it. Season 3 is solid.

I particulary loved the scores for Season 3 and added to the undercurrent of danger and uncertainty. Thankfully Berman and Braga realised that you didn't need just to hold down four notes on a synth for an entire episode.

Also, the character development of the Xindi was great to see and of course, Degra in particular. Randy Oglesby did a great job of giving us a wholly three dimensional character who came to reveal his remorse, guilt, sadness, fear and redemption with regards to what he was doing.

They should have changed the theme song and the opening credits at the beginning of Season 3. The show stopped being about exploration at that point.

I liked that arc too, it just had a few to many extra eps in it for me. But upon rewatch, so did DS9's Dominion War.

I'd say they visited more interesting places in season three than in the first two (a few Xindi worlds, the spheres, sleazy alien marketplaces, weird asteroid fields and the other Expanse anomolies) - and they were still the first humans to do so (with the obvious exceptions of Western Planet and 2002 Earth), even if it wasn't the focus of their mission. It's season four where they stayed in local space.

Although I will say that vile theme (and history-distorting montage - Russia beat the US into space!) should have been binned before the show even began.

Glad to hear others liked this season as well. I rank ENT seasons 3&4 as my favorite seasons of any of the Trek series behind TOS seasons 1&2. The long-form story arc that spanned season 3, the way it slowly unfolded and how the characters evolved and reacted to the growing tension of their mission over the course of the episodes was very nicely plotted - something that, frankly, I didn't think Trek would ever do quite as well.
