Spoilers Season 3 wild speculation

In regards to this it ties in with the rumours that
one of Riker or Troi die to be with their son (i still think it's Riker due to some of the clues in the poster and trailer)
Closest thing to something like that I've heard is Episode 9 is supposed to be a major tearjerker
but per RMB it no one dies in it

This seems to be getting away from the rumor that the tie-in is based on an unresolved incident in TNG. Anyway, I'm not going to look at any more of these spoilers.

Probably a good idea. Personally, I'm more open to the types of spoilers that outline the structure of the season or rule out certain plot points.

Terry is saying the villain's backstory is supposed to be sympathetic.

How is she more classic? "She's a bit more theatrical by intention," Matalas says. "She's a bit more like her father, Christopher Plummer, in Star Trek VI and that was by design." Plummer's Oscar-winning dad played General Chang in The Undiscovered Country. "We wanted someone who would chew the scenery a bit more, someone who was fun to watch," Matalas continues. "Having said that, when you get to know her story, you will find sympathy. Vadic has her reasons for all of this, I say cryptically. When you do [find out], it will make a lot of sense."

I like the theory that Vadic is from Tasha's homeworld. It would be an interesting callback to TNG. And if Vadic had to survive through anarchy, gangs, rape, we won't like her methods or goals of wanting to kill Picard or destroy the Federation but we will empathize with the sufferings she endured and maybe understand why she is so vengeful.

Awhile back, I posited that Vadic might be from a world that was destroyed during the Dominion War. This would tie in with DS9. Perhaps, Picard and the Enterprise E visited Vadic's world during the Dominion War as part of those diplomatic missions referred to in the movie Insurrection. Maybe Vadic and her people helped Picard and then when Picard and the Enterprise left, the Dominion came and wiped them out as retribution. Vadic and her crew on the Shrike might be the few remaining survivors. I could see that making her sympathetic. Again, we won't like her methods or goals but we can empathize with her being a survivor of a brutal Dominion genocide.

Someone posted a screenshot from what looks like a paramount press release on Twitter revealing that Ed Speleers character is called:

Jack Crusher

Is anyone else tired of

the trope of a child being named after a dead father/mother/brother's cousins former roommate? Sure, it happens in real life, but it feels like it happens an excessive amount in TV and movies to the point of becoming cliche.

This is going to be an extremely tough week to avoid spoilers especially with press premieres happening this week.

Musings about Vadic.... Even though this is my personal speculation, I'll spoiler-tag it:

I'm of the opinion that she's related to Tasha Yar and have speculated that she's escaped from Romulus (alternate Yar's daughter). But could it be possible she's Yar's daughter from Turkana IV? She escaped at the age of 15 in 2352, but it's completely possible she had a baby girl a year or two earlier (possibly when she fell in with drugs and the wrong crowd) and abandoned her. That would put her daughter's age at around 55. Amanda Plummer is 10 years older, but it would make sense she looks "hardened" if she grew up in abysmal conditions.

That would fit with the "sympathetic motive" that Matalas says drives the character. She's mad that Picard sent her mother to death not once, but twice!

Not sure if posted elsewhere but some have referenced the following TNG episodes the show might relate to, possibly major spoiler below if not shared elsewhere already:

Bloodlines, Conspiracy

My newest theory based on a leaked episode title is that
the titular “Imposter” of season 3, episode 5 (or 6… too lazy to look it up right now) is Beverly. I think the shot of Crusher in the stasis pod is actually when that reveal occurs. There’s also rumor of a changeling appearing this season. The Beverly we see early on could be said changeling.

Just came here to post that LOL. it's in the AV Review and its episode 5 according to that review.
