Spoilers Season 3 Previews Thread

What was new to Riker was how realistic the Ent-D's holodecks were, not that the holodeck didn't exist before.
Dialogue in other Berman Era Trek implied it existed before Encounter at Farpoint.

Also there was the holographic Recroom in The Animated Series.

As long as there’s no advanced AI characters it should be fine.

And the TNG Holodeck system got a massive upgrade from the Bynars race in TNG S1 11001001 - and the TNG characters even commented on that fact a couple times. - so the 1701-D Holodeck system was even more advanced then other standard 24th century Federation Holodecks.

Can't say that I've missed holodeck episodes especially in light of how few episodes we get per season now. I know how much show runners like to use them to put our normal crew in ridiculous situations with no lasting consequences though.

Ah dang, going by the title I assumed this would be the one with Pike and Batel standing in front of (and possibly going through) that ancient portal we saw in the trailer. But I suppose that’s a later episode, since they don’t even seem to be part of the landing party in this one.

These preview images look interesting, though. They sure love that science lab, don’t they?

EDIT: This is the sequence from the trailer I was talking about …

However, the somewhat surreal shot of the Doctor Strange-like collapsing buildings seems to be from this week’s episode. If you look closely you can spot those columns with light strips both in the background of the characters in the promo pics as well as in that effects shot from the trailer …

Interesting, too, that this pairs up Spock with both La’an and Christine in one landing party. Is this where they play up the whole love triangle thing?

Chapel and Korby's quest leads the Enterprise to ancient ruins that are hiding a dark secret.
Because nothing bad ever happens when you disturb ancient ruins. ;)

Korby: Quadrangle!

Descriptions for 6, 7 and 8

Kirk's first day as captain descends into chaos when the Enterprise is captured by a Scavenger Ship.

Pike and his crew face unwanted scrutiny from a probing journalist while helping a war-torn planet.

After a mission turns crew members into Vulcans, trouble arises when they try to revert to human.

6: He has to become captain of the Farragut, right?
7: Reminds me of the SG1 ep with the Data abductor collector and a major death
8: Dreading that one based on the preview
