Since these are different uniforms than what the other group of presumably 32nd century Starfleet people are wearing, there’s probably at least two factions of Federation military.
I think about that sometimes, and what can you do exactly with clothes? You can have everybody in robes and look like monks or something, I guess.I see people are bitching about the costumes on the 32nd Century characters.![]()
I think that's part of the story. Adira is a little standoffish, but warms up to Stamets and Culber.Adira looks a little uncomfortable

I don't envy any part of the production team. Costuming is just brutal at this point.Designing for the future is so hard, I don't envy the Discovery costume designers.

Soooo...ED, eh? What? In the 32nd century, Viagra replaces Dilithium then?New people for "People of Earth"...

Well, Adira and a new person, Captain Ndoye.
Trekmovie has more.
Pre-rating of 8 for this episode. Last week I had a pre-rating of 5 based solely on the preview images and came away with a 7 after watching it. I'm going in with an 8 this week.
Hesitant to say obviously, but this may indeed be 32nd century Starfleet. If so, I'm good.
Or this could be V'draysh too, who knows. And then again V'draysh and Federation/Starfleet are maybe one in the same...
So anyway, new people of "People of Earth."
EDIT: And a see a comment over there on Adira's badge...

EDF, Earth Defense Force, perhaps.
How?At a glance, the EDF uniforms are at least vaguely reminiscent of the Relativity uniforms.
I wonder if Earth is still the Federation Capital. The promo showed multiple beam ins that reminded me of raiders or given the tone of Picard, paranoid isolationists.
the insignia they wear are clearly new, they do not represent the starfleet!New people for "People of Earth"...

the maquis were primarily human and were at war with the federation.Maybe it's just that the Federation doesn't include Earth - even if it does include humans.
Zareh's dialogue strongly indicates the V'draysh and Federation are identical.the maquis were primarily human and were at war with the federation.
V'draysh may be the federation's most important successor state and those who call themselves the federation are just a group of activists who have no planetary government and only a few spacecraft.
you forget about the group of super spiesI never did buy Starfleet isn’t a military organization BS. I mean you use the earth’s navy ranks as your standard ranks, you have an academy, rules and regulations, a JAG corps, and people can be court martialed. So yeah that doesn’t scream military at all.
Also so not only does the Discovery got to reassemble the Federation but also Starfleet as well.
he speaks of the federation as something almost dead and of the V'draysh as something that exists something real.Zareh's dialogue strongly indicates the V'draysh and Federation are identical.

Even if the V'Draysh is legally a successor state, Discovery would be transitioned in likely just the same. In Picard Romulan groups transitioned from the Romulan Empire to the Romulan successor state. Kelvin Timeline Federation even gave a home to Ambassador Spock, despite him not even being from their timeline.he speaks of the federation as something almost dead and of the V'draysh as something that exists something real.
The V'draysh could be the most important successor state of the federation but they themselves do not feel that they are the federation that they are something new and different! look at them they have new badges!
