The Emperor Georgiou, as Admiral, automatically sets the rating of the episode to 10. Alternatively, 9 when the rest of the episode is of TATV or Threshold quality.

So it looks like they fix up the ship, jump to earth, then a planetary shield goes up and they get attacked by what is doubtless Federation ships. They get boarded and everyone realizes that they are all on the same side. They probably get some cool upgrades and get sent on their way

I'm sure the 32nd century Federation would be very interested in Spore Drive, especially if they could replicate it without needing a human interface.

I hope that we're not gonna see Michael with more time travel shenanigans to make the future better, cause that's what that line sounds like and I actually liked her for once in the first episode.

So it's a three-stage process: first dilithium grows scarce and the Federation loses cohesion, then dilithium goes inert and the warp drives that rely on it blow up (supposedly because m/am annihilation without dilithium goes wild), and then the weakened Federation can't figure out what happened so the rest falls apart. But somehow there remains some non-inert dilithium for use afterwards.

The written-in mystery is the apparent attack against dilithium (perhaps only targeted where it hurts the most, so dilithium outside active ships survives). The unwritten mystery is why inability to find more dilithium in the early stages is such a problem if they have this recrystallizing thing down pat. But they supposedly have that in TNG, and still the Romulans rather desperately mine for more dilithium, so the net loss isn't insignificant, even if failure to expand weren't a problem.

I like the design of Burnham's new ride. Does this mean the shuttle prop is lost forever, though, this being a likely conversion? What will SNW use?

Looking at the trailer - and the preview scene - it seems like there's a lot of ground that needs to be covered.
  • Flashback scenes from Michael's POV which explain how she ended up there to rescue Discovery
  • Face-to-face reunion between Michael and the Discovery crew
  • Some sort of attack takes place against Discovery - which seems to be the uptime Federation, since Adira beams into engineering armed
  • Crew returns to Earth before the end of the episode
From this we can guess that Michael had not yet hooked up with the uptime Federation when she recues Discovery. Is Craft's vessel really capable of a tractor beam that powerful though?

Well, it got a pretty thorough paint job, and those aren't trivial to reverse. Doesn't stop TPTB from using the exterior CGI model, of course. Or perhaps the exterior of the prop, if they're doing the fancy wings in full CGI even planet- or setside.

I'd love it for SNW to cough up the dough for an all-new ("all-old") model and prop, though.

This season has so much potential I'm really annoyed at the weekly release schedule.

Maybe time travel has an adverse effect on active dilithium? We hear that dilithium supplies dried up in the 29th century, the same century where the Temporal Integrity Commission was active and doing routine time travel. 200 years later all active dilithium blows up, right after a mass time travel event in the Temporal War? Maybe its related.

Hell, Burnham is being handed what looks like a data rod in that clip with the partial registry of NCC-47443 on it, the USS Relativity was USS-474439-G. I find it hard to believe that would be a coincidence.
