Despite Robert Picardo's (as always) brilliant acting, "Real Life" was nothing more or less than melodrama. Doc's "family" didn't exist before or after this episode, and neither were there any lasting effects, on him or on anyone else. And the idea of Torres and Paris giving advice on what "real" families are like, when we know both of them come from dysfunctional households, seems off. "Real Life" is just what this one isn't.

And he played such an off-putting character, too. If memory serves, the fan nickname for him was "Vomit."

And honestly, one of the most blatant nepotism casting in the franchise. (Alexander Enberg is Jeri Taylor's son. Not a coincidence he appeared this season as much as seasons 5, 6, and 7 combined.)
