They gonna time travel and jump into the 24th century.
They will have 3 series and 500+ episodes of characters/aliens/planets/stories to chose from, revise and abuse.
I bet they already try to cast young Picard. :P

A but we are jumping to the 24th century this fall, in a way sure to make fans of the Berman era howl again.
Given a good 400 give or take of those TNG-VOY episodes are considered mediocre to terrible by even fans of the franchise (just look at any top 100 list of the franchise to see how it is dominated by TOS and its whole 77 eps) some revision/abuse is warranted. Even Sir Patrick, when presented with an opportunity to return to his old role has responded with a "fuck repeating that 90s stuff, lets do something different". Has to tell you something, eh?
I predict that Berman-era fans will go even more apeshit over the Picard series than they have over Star Trek: Discovery.
They hate Discovery foundationally because it was set in the 23rd century and relies more on a TOS mindset than a TNG mindset. It's the whole "this should have been post-Nemesis" crew.
But, when The Picard Show comes in and is (rightfully) very different from TNG....that's a much more direct and clear assault on that which they hold dear. They'll go berserk with #notmypicard and #wheresthethoughtfulness when this turns out to be a very different show in its own right.
I love TOS, and I love TNG...but I love Star Trek changing and evolving most of all, so I'm looking forward to it.

No, not really. The “original fanbase” is hardly as monolithic as a few loudmouths would like AND it’s inevitably shrinking in proportion to the general audience.
Yeah, based on the character descriptions posted in the Future of Trek forum the Picard show will be much different than TNG. So I expect the TNG fans will hate it even more than they hate Discovery and it will increase their already annoying gushing over The Orville. But I am really looking forward to it.

There's a difference between you "liking something more" and something being objectively "better" that you are swinging at and missing badly I'm afraid.
Nice to know the Trek fanbase has become so toxic that the hipster faction feels entitled to let the older faction know that they are waiting with glee for them to die the F off.
There was a great episode of Star Trek that dropped this past week. Watch it, you might feel better.
I don't know where you get that from. but it is true that sooner or later death is inevitable and the older you get the higher the chances that you too are not imortal. for a franchise that's over 50 years old, chances are high that most of the original fans are no longer with us or on the verge of pining for the fjords.
More like the reverse. Discovery threads are filled with the same familiar avatar icons who love the show unconditionally. It's a very small list including yourself and you tell eachother what you want to hear. You're living in an echo-chamber.

We're also living in an aging society of people living longer. It's rude for younger people to suggest the over 40 crowd should be sort of disregarded by Hollywood. Note that Trek itself was revitalized in the 80s on the backs of over-40 actors in films that were marketed to multiple generations, that being the original TOS fans and the new crop who grew up on reruns. It's possible to have a big tent without alienating this or that group, but it's harder these days because we've become such an atomized/tribal society. The rude attitude in your posts attests to that.
If that's what helps you sleep better at night, then I'm happy for you. But its definitely ironic.
In the meantime, I and the rest of the small-sample echo-chamber look forward to more seasons of Discovery, and additional Star Trek productions by the same creative team, made possible by Discovery's success.
The capacity for rationalization never ceases to impress me.
