Spoilers Season 2 predictions/discussion thread

Sarek makes Worf look like the most doting, hands-on parent ever.

"Ambassador Sarek, permission to speak freely?"

"Granted, Lt. Worf."

"Damn, man don't you think you ought to give your kid a hug once in a while?"

"That hardly seems logical."

"I mean, my kid is a complete disappointment, and even I occasionally give him a little bit of affection just to encourage him along. And I can't emphasize that enough. An absolute, complete disappointment. Like, my ancestors going back 20 generations are probably spinning in their graves over how useless he is. But you know, I give him a pat on the back once in a while, for Kahless' sake."

"I wouldn't want to risk spoiling them. I once gave Spock a begrudging nod of respect, against my better judgement. And what did he do? He said - I cannot believe I am telling you this - he said, 'Thank you, I appreciate that.' I was just glad nobody saw that."

"Father, look, I drew your starship in my art class!"

"That is the Enterprise?"

"Yes, Fatther!"

"I do NOT serve aboard any starship which looks like THAT."

"Mom said you could be a dick."

"And many Klingons have two of those!"

I predict, after watching the season premiere of Picard S3, that a Federation-Class Dreadnaught will appear!

I predict there will be a lot of backlash towards Carol Kane's character. Perhaps Pulaski again.

Hemmer was too much of a fan favorite. Next to Pike, he's probably the show's next fan favorite character and had so much potential. He could have grown from a stiff curmudgeon, to a charismatic, fun character, like Odo and The Doctor. The groundwork was there.

Nothing last forever.

And the actor is coming back.

Sarek really screwed up everyone in his entire family, didn't he?
Sarek becomes more interesting after Spock reveals that Sybok is a bastard from an out of wedlock affair with a Vulcan Princess. . Well! Evidently the mother did not want Sarek anywhere around the child and took him to a monastary and he got in mental contact with some ancient Vulcan mind in a katra container who turned him to the Dark Side.

Unless they make her character a carbon copy of Scotty in mannerism and backstory; I doubt that'll be the case. The Pulaski character came under Fire because she was a female carbon copy of Dr. McCoy from TOS, right down to the line of being an Old Country Doctor, and having an aversion to, and distrust of using the Transporters.

Sarek is really an odd study in contradictions. He's Mr. Propriety, but he knocked up a Vulcan Princess or whomever out of wedlock. He's the Vulcanest Vulcan, but he chose a human woman for his mate - not once, but at least twice. He apparently decided against Kohlinahr, judging from his intense suppressed emotions in TNG's 'Sarek.'

I think Sarek shits all over Spock because Sarek hates the perceived failings he tries to hide in himself and which Spock outwardly demonstrates.

Spock seems to do a 180 then about his father. Sarek seems to love women. Spock eventually avoids them entirely. I don't really see Spock demonstrating those failings but fighting manfully against them. He turns down women all the time. Is Sarek afraid Spock will turn out like Sybok? Vulcan "Behind closed doors" is a more interesting place then we first imagined. They are hypocrites, all of them.

Something that might be interesting for season 2 would be a flashback episode about Robert April taking charge of the Enterprise for the first time to see its first mission. Perhaps they could also do an episode about the Enterprise discovering a lost 22nd century NX class ship.

How about inserting these lines into dialog:

"Captain - That blocky looking ship over there is the USS New Jersey, NCC-1975. A prototype for the Constitution and Sombra classes but with a much less elegant profile."

"However, she is 442 meters long, just like the Enterprise, and as a result many people confuse the two designs"

There, that should solve a few debates

Reactions: Sci
Indeed. But, more than that, I think that T'Pring will become more and more distant just due to Spock's adventuring out on the Enterprise. Not too dissimilar to people who grow apart when real life situations take them separate directions, despite the great wish to remain connected. Spock's travels couldn't help up but impact him, especially as he tries to adhere to the Vulcan way, yet still not fully Vulcan.

Also, he immediately signs up for another five-year deep space mission.

I loved Hemmer, but Carol Kane is a national treasure and I predict the backlash will be mild and ignored.
