"Mom said you could be a dick."
"And many Klingons have two of those!"
Nothing last forever.Hemmer was too much of a fan favorite. Next to Pike, he's probably the show's next fan favorite character and had so much potential. He could have grown from a stiff curmudgeon, to a charismatic, fun character, like Odo and The Doctor. The groundwork was there.
Sarek becomes more interesting after Spock reveals that Sybok is a bastard from an out of wedlock affair with a Vulcan Princess. . Well! Evidently the mother did not want Sarek anywhere around the child and took him to a monastary and he got in mental contact with some ancient Vulcan mind in a katra container who turned him to the Dark Side.Sarek really screwed up everyone in his entire family, didn't he?
Unless they make her character a carbon copy of Scotty in mannerism and backstory; I doubt that'll be the case. The Pulaski character came under Fire because she was a female carbon copy of Dr. McCoy from TOS, right down to the line of being an Old Country Doctor, and having an aversion to, and distrust of using the Transporters.I predict there will be a lot of backlash towards Carol Kane's character. Perhaps Pulaski again.

Spock seems to do a 180 then about his father. Sarek seems to love women. Spock eventually avoids them entirely. I don't really see Spock demonstrating those failings but fighting manfully against them. He turns down women all the time. Is Sarek afraid Spock will turn out like Sybok? Vulcan "Behind closed doors" is a more interesting place then we first imagined. They are hypocrites, all of them.Sarek is really an odd study in contradictions. He's Mr. Propriety, but he knocked up a Vulcan Princess or whomever out of wedlock. He's the Vulcanest Vulcan, but he chose a human woman for his mate - not once, but at least twice. He apparently decided against Kohlinahr, judging from his intense suppressed emotions in TNG's 'Sarek.'
I think Sarek shits all over Spock because Sarek hates the perceived failings he tries to hide in himself and which Spock outwardly demonstrates.
Or, in the classic 60's leading man dilemma, YOU disappear (or you die to give the boy motivation for vengeance). She is fighting it hard because Spock is deep down rather screwed up and you know those Star Fleet men, they date you on the mission and then disappear.
Indeed. But, more than that, I think that T'Pring will become more and more distant just due to Spock's adventuring out on the Enterprise. Not too dissimilar to people who grow apart when real life situations take them separate directions, despite the great wish to remain connected. Spock's travels couldn't help up but impact him, especially as he tries to adhere to the Vulcan way, yet still not fully Vulcan.
I loved Hemmer, but Carol Kane is a national treasure and I predict the backlash will be mild and ignored.I predict there will be a lot of backlash towards Carol Kane's character. Perhaps Pulaski again.

I have no idea who this person is nor why I should care. I trust she is a competent actress and will do her job.I loved Hemmer, but Carol Kane is a national treasure and I predict the backlash will be mild and ignored.
