Spoilers Season 2 predictions/discussion thread

It's a shame to me we can't see Garth because of real-world silliness. I always thought it would be interesting to see who he was before he went cookoo for cocopuffs.

And/or, how he got his powers.

Idea! A group of aliens with powers are only a moment away from dying by imploding, (we see others of its kind implode first) unless it finds a host to inhabit, and share memories with and guess who it finds at the last moment?

And uh... I guess... I guess the alien was coo-coo for coco-puffs and that trait transfers too. :D

ETA: Overnight Revelation: The explosive pellets he used to blow Marta to pieces came from... wait for it.... his alien companions imploded bodies!!!

It might have made him all the more of a tragic character if he had been depicted initially as a very cool and likeable captain that you still wouldn't want to square off against in battle.
You would need better acting and better writing than currently supplied for that character by Mr. Peters.

From Jess Bush interview.

“When Chapel first comes across Spock, she's just a flirty person, that's how she interacts with people and I think she's interested in him as a science subject as well, you know, he's a hybrid and that's really interesting... and he's also kind of a hot snack. So she's like, "Bingo, this is awesome". She doesn't really see beyond that. It's just kind of like, "I know how to get under this guy's skin. This is fun. He's hot, let's talk." But I think it kind of catches her off guard when this beautiful friendship develops between them. I think that one thing about Chapel is that she’s been through a bit in the way of human relationships in the past and so, she’s a bit bruised in that respect and she finds it hard to trust people, really. She keeps people at a distance. She has one-night stands. She plays around like that but doesn’t really get involved. I think Spock’s candor and his honesty really disarm her and make her feel really safe. Spock is coming to terms with his humanness, his humanity and she really revels in that, in her humanity. So, she can kind of offer guidance in that respect. So, this beautiful symbiotic friendship that’s really precious and really earnest develops. I think it kind of, from Chapel’s point of view, starts to kind of get confusing in that respect, where she’s like, “Oh no, I don’t want anything to do with this guy, but oh, he’s actually making me feel really safe. But also he’s engaged and, oh, this is weird. How does this work professionally?” She's got a really strong moral compass as well. She knows he’s in a relationship. She's like, “we’re not doing this. Don’t make this hard. Don’t make it messy. Let’s just, you know…” I think she just kind of keeps herself, her feelings, under control and tells Spock to keep his under control because it’s just not gonna work.”

Funny. Musing here. Did Chapel ever contract the Elyrian virus? I remember seeing her passed out on sickbay floor.

I'd have already referenced him in DSC almost five years ago when that historical database graphic of the Most Decorated Captains in Starfleet came up but oh well. They had their reasons and maybe Peters' B.S. was one of them. Show how he went from a decorated hero of one of the greatest battles of the first century of Federation history to a complete mess and detail his slide into rehabilitation.

Steve Ihnat turned in a very good performance in 1968 with very little of a character background so I know a modern actor could do even better if they write a great backstory.

New Chief Engineer Not Scotty - The plan is to have and kill at least 3 engineers before Scotty and when Scotty is on the show, he will be in near death situations frequently and there will be awkwardness because of the history of CEs getting killed. To ensure there is enough fanwank, one of the CEs will have the last name LaForge.

Pike will get Rikered and get cloned due to a transporter accident. The 2 Pikes will fight over who is the real one and who has to get injured. The loser will leave and change his hair to something that does not require 7 ounces of product to maintain. The "second" Pike will come back after the accident and reassert his claim as the real Pike and will end up being a dodgy admiral on the TOS revival. Una will consider using Pike2's transporter pattern to fix Pike1, but thinks Pike1 got a happy enough ending and leaves him alone.

Brian Brophy will be cast as the lawyer for the Federation in Una's trial.

There will be another time travel episode that leads to the rumored crossover event with Picard and Disco that also serves as a launch of the Janeway show. This will be facilitated by Wesley Crusher of course.

All kidding aside, I expect a gradual recasting of TOS roles where not forbidden and more of this kickass old school Trek. I wish they could crank out more of these episodes, but the production values are so much higher than previous Trek. I am thinking they realize that 10 can be done annually or close to it.

Nothing but the obvious for me. With Pike now firmly on course for the Accident, the drivers will be:

1) Getting Una back.
2) Spock/T'Pring/Chapel dynamic.
3) La'An arc (Gorn trauma, augment issue)
4) New Engineer
5) Angel/Sybok return
6) Old baddie makeover (Klingon?)
7) More background for M'Benga/Ortegas/Uhura.
8) At least 2 Strange New Worlds
9) More Kirk
10) More legacy characters (at least 1)

Sybok will be a significant story element in Season 2 even if he appears in just one episode. The ramifications of Sybok's fate will likely have such an impact on Spock that outside of Nurse Chapel and a few other non-Vulcans he won't mention his half-brother again for another 27 years. The Sybok thing could also be a further sticking point in his betrothal to T'Pring in that he may view her contacts with Sybok as very divisive and a direct intrusion on his family, further exposing its shortcomings and how Sarek's children each bear a very heavy burden.

Ash Tyler should appear again for an episode.

I made a thread about that like a year ago and people hated the idea, but that’s okay. I just think it would be neat…

"Your cousin José trasferred off here a few years ago. He was the best navigator we've ever had. Though I'm sure Miss Mitchell or Miss Ortegas would probably disagree."
