Season 2 episode 3 ‘Point Of Light’ Preview

My one burning question here... How does Burnham recognize the ship as being her foster dad's? As we saw in "Lethe", everybody on Vulcan flies those, and nothing but those. And Saru is the one with an eye for details; Burnham shouldn't be able to see Sarek-specific scribbling or scraping that's not visible to the audience. Does she just have a hunch? Or did she cheat by consulting a computer, and if so, why her and only her?

What? You can't recognize your Dad's car when it chases after you? ;)

Someone took it for a joyride and dented it. She remembers the new patch of paint covering it.

Man, that preview doesn't inspire confidence. This fees like a "bridge" episode, not a starship bridge, as in, nothing really good story wise happens, but it needs to be told in order for the story to move forward.

Can't the story move forward without any of that stuff? :(
No because they're main characters.

It's a preview, no context for any of the scenes.

I hope it is like that because I am worried this season will be too episodic. Better a story have room to breathe than be wrapped up in 44 minutes like "New Eden's" rushed A plot.

I'm sort of getting a general "A plots don't matter" vibe out of this. The story is in our heroes slowly figuring out that they are being strung up, with seeming A plot after A plot, and understanding that there's a bigger story behind this all.

When we get to Red Thing #3, some of this discussion is definitely due on screen. The first two already set a pattern of sorts, but not a statistically significant one. If the third again involves an acute crisis the Discovery is uniquely suited to solve, our heroes must decide if this isn't something extremely personal aimed directly at them and their unique starship. But if this comes too soon, the rest of the season will suffer. So I'm actually all for filler eps!

...Or a lump of their pet rock, perhaps stuck in Tilly when it blew her across the shuttlebay. It's dark and bluish, which describes pretty much everything in the DSC universe. But it's sorta rounded while the pet rock was sharp.

The same way you can recognize your own car, despite there being cars nearly identical to it. Maybe she saw one of those stick people family decals on back.

He has a bumper sticker that says "I [don't really] Grok Spock"
