So would you say that most of the criticism of the Michael Burnham character is racist or misogynist?Of course you don't see because racists and misogynists are not that stupid. They hide under ridiculous comments of the like:
These are quotes only from a fragment of the comment section but they give a good overview. If someone writes such things seriously, it is only astronomically unlikely that in real life he is not a racist and misogynist.
- Why does Michael Burnham have to be the hero of EVERY scene? It is absurd.
- Michael Burnham is a thoroughly unlikeable character.
- The rest of the cast are underdeveloped and used to support & justify the Michael Burnham.
- They have an insecure woman child on the bridge who is more of a liability than Wesley Crusher.
- I don't see color.
- Burnham is the worst character in all of Star Trek.
- Spock probably hated her.
- Michael Burnham is Rey for Star Trek.
- Michael Burnham is one detestable character.
- I did not think a character could be a worse Mary Sue than Rey, but Burnham comes close.
- Two minutes in and already hate the main character. Her moral grandstanding is annoying.
I love some of the Star Trek shows over the others, yet somehow I manage to live my life without obsessively hatespamming Deep Space Nine, for example.Or people just love some of the other Star Trek shows over STD.
I've seen enough YT vids and commentaries from fans that would agree with the above quotes, but still consider Sisko (and to a lesser extent Janeway) as awesome.
Burnham is divisive because she's a shit character.

It is good that you are not a lawyer of those persons:

BTW I remember how well J&S were accepted in some circles so skip this bullshit.
Are there any YouTube fan channels (not official ones, like news outlets) that actually like the show?
This is why YT is a poor measuring stick for anything. It is a very loud but unearned platform that empowers individuals to destroy whatever they would like to.If someone who doesn't know anything about Star Trek only had YouTube to go by, they'd think no one was watching and everyone hates the show. I do think that's a problem for not only Disco, but the Star Trek franchise itself.
And that, in of itself, is quite scary.Youtube is becoming an extremely influential outlet on the general masses.
There's a quote in the end of the movie The Illusionist that kind of sums up my opinion about the masses of Youtube, or at least what the point of view of anyone left at the wheel over there must thinkAnd that, in of itself, is quite scary.
Theyll keep making Discovery as long as enough people subscribe to CBS-AA and watch it on Netflix. No amount of crying in YouTube comments sections is going to influence anybody.STD won't have the same luxury, by bringing in Spock, Pike, Sarek the Enterprise and other TOS staples in, beloved by fans. YT is certainly emboldening those who dislike the series, and giving them a loud voice that will influence others.
When I don't like something, I move on. It must be quite an empty experience to dedicate precious free time to obsessively hating a television show.Sisko especially, is very well praised by ST fans, who loate Discovery. And yes, some of them are conservative. You'll find that many of the channels that trash Discovery, are praising DS9 and Sisko as brilliant. The alt-right extremist conspiracy is just a poor excuse.

There's no significant legitimacy to the complaints that she's boring, annoying, uninteresting ect.? Can these criticisms be said without being racist/misogynist?
I really don't think that's a healthy release.Let them do their thing. It's healthy for them to express their dislike with the series in that manner.
There's no insecurity here, merely concern at racist, sexist and obsessive hate of what amounts to light entertainment. You shouldn't be so insecure with your own love of STD to let others who don't share your opinion bother you.
