"A Moral Star, Part 1" has some problems with the serialized plot development. You can really feel the gears grinding.
I suppose that is the signature sin of this era of Trek: terrible instincts on serialization. It was always the serialized plotting that was the greatest weakness on all of these shows, and yet they kept doubling and tripling and quadrupling down on the very thing they were worst at. If only they'd more quickly reached the (very obvious) realization that they excel at the episodic!
