Action has always been a part of Star Trek, and I want it to continue to be.Seeing as how TOS was pitched as an action adventure series, I'll disagree on this point.
The question for me is how much action. I think modern Trek has too much.

I gave about the same rating as everyone else. I like it but I'm not getting giddy. Seeing all of the advanced tech is unfortunate. Like that thing they do with throwing holograms around with their hand. That was never seen until star trek 2009. It's late 24th century romulan tech. Star Trek Discovery is better than nothing though. The vast majority posting here liked it.
Hardly anyone is being pessimistic. Look at the rating polls in the episode threads.
Could you please name a Star Trek show that has always received a universally positive reaction?
People have a lot more to pick from these days. If they get turned off by something, it's easier for them to find something else. I thought continuum was better than this but that show got cancelled. Expanse was better too and then got cancelled from syfy but looks like amazon prime is going to try to save it.Seeing as how TOS was pitched as an action adventure series, I'll disagree on this point.
I don't see a problem right now, based upon CBS' current production and reaction. I'm not going to look for problems where there are none.I can't name any series that has always received a universally positive reaction. I guess that means there's no problem. OH wait, shows get canceled all the time.
And if Discovery gets cancelled then it gets cancelled. Fine by me. But, I'll watch it and support it while it is on.People have a lot more to pick from these days. Youtube has become a cesspool hangout for the alt-right and the not-so-alt-anymore-right. I guess it always was, and I did not notice. So the YouTube video is getting the Ghostbusters treatment. Funny thing is, none of it is about the content of the episode.
I don't see any comments complaining about the fact that Micheal Burnham is a black women. Maybe there's one or two out of 1600+ comments? But I don't see any.No, it's a combination of people saying "Hail!" to Doomcock, complaining about the black female "captain," noting how CBS is spreading "its STD," and sharing other illuminating commentary that often devolves into "not real Star Trek." They've also under the impression that this is their chance to get through to CBS.
People who don't like STD are in the minority? I see places like TrekBBS where the overwhelming majority like it, but I also see places where the overwhelming majority hate it. It seems pretty 50/50 to me from my internet travels, which isn't good thing for CBS.

Didn't mean they weren't right in their assumption, thoughProbably not smart to group all those who dislike the show as 'Alt-right.' Hasn't worked out well for other franchises who went there.

Nor did I say that.Probably not smart to group all those who dislike the show as 'Alt-right.' Hasn't worked out well for other franchises who went there.

Of course you don't see because racists and misogynists are not that stupid. They hide under ridiculous comments of the like:
These are quotes only from a fragment of the comment section but they give a good overview. If someone writes such things seriously, it is only astronomically unlikely that in real life he is not a racist and misogynist.
- Why does Michael Burnham have to be the hero of EVERY scene? It is absurd.
- Michael Burnham is a thoroughly unlikeable character.
- The rest of the cast are underdeveloped and used to support & justify the Michael Burnham.
- They have an insecure woman child on the bridge who is more of a liability than Wesley Crusher.
- I don't see color.
- Burnham is the worst character in all of Star Trek.
- Spock probably hated her.
- Michael Burnham is Rey for Star Trek.
- Michael Burnham is one detestable character.
- I did not think a character could be a worse Mary Sue than Rey, but Burnham comes close.
- Two minutes in and already hate the main character. Her moral grandstanding is annoying.
