Season 11 slated for autumn 2018

I'm glad for a blank slate. That sounds wonderful and refreshing.
I'm a little concerned about the hour long episodes... how will BBC America treat it? Hour and a half slots? Then with a repeat after? so it's a solid three hour block? Or maybe hour and a half slot with a half hour post show? Meh.
A lower number of episodes in a season doesn't bother me. Better chance of quality across the board. Or not.

I know in the past that the BBC have provided edited down episodes of 1hr shows for the US market (I know they did it for Spooks/MI5)

I think the 1 hr format will be both a good and a bad thing. Yes there have been plenty of nuWho episodes that haven't had chance to breathe, but also plenty where they didn't seem to have enough plot for 42 minutes, let alone 60!

The writers at the BBC are so tired and seem out of ideas. I wonder, would it not be good to try to hire some new blood, who may be a fan of the show? With Chibnall and Whittaker, I wonder if they should pull some writers off the Fall with Gillian Anderson.. One of the most feminist TV shows out there! Why not! Let's go full on SJW male hate, and make Doctor who a real feminist propaganda activist show! I can't wait to hear Whitaker utter the lines "Stop trying to Man-splain to me!" or why didn't I try this sooner? Being a woman is so much better then a Man!"

Ohhh..pinch me, can't wait for Autumn 2018! sounds like a blast! (sarcasm)

That's really the only appropriate answer to that.

Fuck sakes, the Doctor is a woman now. Deal with it or leave the fandom, either way stop your bitching.

Gee, I wonder why people accused you of being sexist when the news of Whitaker's casting came out?

And, as a side note, I've never understood SJW as a pejorative. Shouldn't people WANT social justice? Isn't social justice a GOOD thing? It seems to me people who use it as an insult are afraid their world is changing out of their control and they can't accept that they may not be at the top of the food chain anymore.

ANYONE who didn't like the announcement was called a sexist bigot. ANYONE..do you not see the problem there? Didn't matter if it was a legitimate reason say Jodie's acting style or simply that the 50 years of Canon was now being flipped, ANYONE not down with the collective hive mind, is a sexist bigot, and somehow racist got shoved there for good measure too. Its supposed to be a science fiction show, not a social political propaganda piece disguised as TV..I'm sorry..the past doctor who series since the finale of the big bang, to me aren't Doctor Who. The Doctor uses the Pandorica to reboot reality..that reality is now an alternate universe where Time Lord's are now Transgenered. See! My phone is 2016, it doesn't recognize how to even spell that!! TRANSGENDER...

Thanks Moffatt..

Is it possible that that there are some people, even guys who have an issue with Jodie Whitaker herself that has nothing to do with her being a woman? Maybe. However, all your posts on the matter seem to be around the fact that she is a woman, and that does make you a sexist bigot.
that the 50 years of Canon was now being flipped
Please, canon has never been a big deal for Doctor Who to begin with. And even if it were, Time Lords being able to change their gender when they regenerate doesn't violate canon.

Because you fucking spelt it wrong. You conveniently left the D out of "gender." Instead of Transgendered you wrote Transgenered. If you really expect anyone to take you seriously, don't build your arguments around your own misspelling.

I seem to recall watching a rerun of "The God Complex" on BBC America that featured some non-dialogue scenes that were sped-up. Mostly running down corridors sorts of shots.

No. Only those who freaked out saying a woman couldn't be the Doctor, that only a man could play a shape shifting alien in a fictional construct. Saying someone can't do a job because they are a woman is pretty much the definition of sexism.

ANYONE..do you not see the problem there?

Only for the sexists.

Didn't matter if it was a legitimate reason say Jodie's acting style

I didn't see anyone accused of being sexist who didn't like the choice because they didn't think Whitaker was a bad actor or didn't suit the role. Those that were being accused of sexism their sole arguments was because she was a woman.

or simply that the 50 years of Canon was now being flipped,

I'll give you the first 15 or so years of canon. But, then there's Romana's regeneration where she tries on several forms, and then, clearly, quite clearly, it's stated in the Doctor's Wife that Time Lords can change gender.

ANYONE not down with the collective hive mind, is a sexist bigot, and somehow racist got shoved there for good measure too. Its supposed to be a science fiction show, not a social political propaganda piece disguised as TV.

1. Are you saying science fiction shows can't tackle social and political ideas?
2. Are you saying... Propaganda?! Oh, god, are you one of those men's rights types?
3. Times change. Sorry.

.I'm sorry..

No, you're not. You have meant every foolish statement in this post.

Grow up.

Transgendered isn't even a real word. It's not something that happens to you.

Also when did the show ever saw the Doctor couldn't be a woman?

Duly noted, my apologies.
Also when did the show ever saw the Doctor couldn't be a woman?
Never. Indeed, according to the Ninth Doctor, regeneration can result in many unusual body changes, such as two heads or none. Funny this hasn't stirred up anywhere near as much controversy as the idea of turning into a woman has.

Time Lords can regenerate into whatever they like at the time. They've taken alien forms, switched genders, even "tried on" various bodies while their cells are still going crazy from the process and are malliable enough to do it.

People wouldn't have to confront their own bigotry if the Doctor became two headed, that would just be an allusion to Hitchhikers, so they could remain happy in their bubble.
