Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

With Howard reportedly re-shooting half (some say more, some less) the movie, some late pick-ups are to be expected. They'll make the date, it is the whole reason they hired Howard; they needed a technician to come in and get the job done without blowing up the budget or fighting over creative differences.

Meh. The actor doesn't look anything close to a young Ford.

I'll wait for word of mouth, but this isn't sending me.

Anthony Ingruber not only looks like a twentysomething Ford but sounds like him and can act. He could have pulled it off.

Sadly we'll never know.

Too bad. He really did resemble him. This other guy, well, he just doesn't.

Can't say I'm interested in Han Solo before he met Leia anyhow.

Word is that Spielberg is the one who lobbied for Alden Ehrenreich. Ingruber seems like a much more obvious choice.

Well, if the movie contradicts the Daley and Crispin novels, I'm gonna cross my arms in a huff and not watch unless the trailer is very very good.

Those books are not canon, they don't need to follow them.

Though they are keeping the fact that Han rescued Chewie from slavery.

Honestly, I'd rather they hire the actor that can best portray the character than the actor who happens to resemble the last actor to play the role. Looking like Ford is a bonus, not the goal in and of itself. Presumably LF thought the same.

And then they had to hire an acting coach after the fact. In the words of AOTC Obi-Wan, "Good job!"

They just had to go all Soup Nazi on the people who wanted Ingruber and it apparently bit them in the ass.

Why would he need to?

Because Lord and Miller's unwillingness or inability to "stay on script" were affecting Alden's ability to do his job. It had nothing to do with whether or not he's a good actor; it had to do with the fact that what Lord and Miller were telling him to do was at odds with what the script itself was telling him to do, creating problems in his ability to actually do anything coherently.

Let's be honest here. We don't know until we see the final product. I get that speculation is part of the BBS and the like, but honestly-it sounds more like wishing to fail and finding reasons to criticize the product before it even hits the screen.

It's one thing to critique the marketing handling. I don't necessarily worry about it, but since I see constant posts around the Interwebz wondering when the trailer will drop, its clearly on people's minds. And BTS drama is certainly driving the gossip chains.

But, at the end, the product will speak for itself.

Disney's next major release is Black Panther next month. If there's no trailer for Solo attached to that, I'm officially declaring a Code Red.

To each their own. That kind of thing yanks me right out of a movie. I couldn't buy that Shinzon looked like Picard either.
