Best of the Best
TNG - Sure it has a rough beginning, and sure it has a bit of a rocky ending, but I still think it has some of best premises in the series. I think this has the perfect mix of wonder and awe mixed with good world building and good ideas. I'm a sucker for very "sci-fi" premises, and I think this show has the best of them.
Excellent
DS9 - I definitely appreciate DS9 now a lot more than I did growing up. The inclusion of ideas about religion, war, and society have stood the test of time and I think it's one of the more rewarding shows to watch now, especially in a world where season-long arcs are the norm.
ENT - I love Enterprise, I don't care what people think. I think the set design is a big factor in that. I really think they nailed the half-space ship half-submarine aesthetic, and I like the time period that it's set in. Don't get me wrong, there's some hot garbage in there, particularly in the first season or two. However, the season 3-long arc was a step in the right direction, and I think the focus on multi-part episodes in the last season was a really great storytelling technique. If I could make any executive Star Trek decision, it would've been to give Enterprise a season 5, easily.
Great
TOS - Frankly it's been a while since I've watched much TOS, so if I had, it very well might have gone higher. As it is though, it's a certified classic. Upon rewatching, it's always surprising to me how many well known and well regarded episodes they had in just their first season alone. It established arguably not only a franchise but an entire TV style. Granted, some of the cost saving measures (filming on company backlot sets, reusing Nazi uniforms for the 5th time) hasn't aged well, and that last season tanked pretty hard.
LD - I'll admit that I didn't like LD at all when it premiered, and to be honest, I don't find the first season or so all that good today. It leans too hard into the nostalgia and name dropping that it didn't feel like it had an identity for itself. I'm pleased to say that recent seasons have reversed that trend and I feel the characters have really come into their own. They're now able to push their own characters forward rather than relying on what came before, and it's shown some of the best modern storytelling.
Good
SNW - This might be a little unfair, as I actually really like SNW. However, I didn't feel like it was on the same level as TOS or LD, simply because they have yet to have an episode that has really wowed me. They've had a few really solid episodes, but haven't had their version of Measure of a Man or Duet yet. That isn't for a lack of trying though, and I think this show has a lot of potential to become something great
VOY - I don't know what it is about Voyager, but I always just find it to be "okay". I think part of the issue was that they really standardized how a Federation starship should look, but that led to a lack of visual style, or perhaps worse, a lack of variety. They picked up two hitchhiker aliens in the first episode, but no other Delta quadrant species seems to want to join the crew. They're trapped with the knowledge that they'll likely die on that ship, at the very least from old age, but that's not really a growing concern. It's a show set in the Delta Quad, but could've been set around the block from TNG.
Oh no
TAS - I've seen like one episode of TAS one time, and it was okay I guess.
PIC - I never really thought this show was a good idea even from the get go, so I guess I wasn't super disappointed when it turned out to be a bit of a mess. There were some interesting ideas in there, like exploring the consequences of the Romulan supernova or what becomes of ex-Borgs, but it all felt so mean spirited. Everyone is mad at Picard for things that weren't his fault and frankly even when he made the right decisions. I've still never seen season 2, I'll admit, due to the poor ratings it got, and even though season 3 was definitely a step up, it was still a mess. Everything I liked about TNG, the sense of wonder, the visual style of the future, its people, were all gone.
A Hot Mess
DIS - I really dislike everything about this show. I don't like the sets, I don't like the acting, I don't like the plots, I don't like the character development, everything about this show is awful. I think the worst part about it is how it doesn't even feel like it belongs in the same universe. PIC, for all its faults, at least tries to fit in with the established galaxy. SNW manages to execute this well, but DIS never does, and I think it's a string of horribly written plots where their own writers forget to resolve the initial mysteries by mid-season. Even though it's ending, it's still around long enough to bring us a movie with my least favorite recurring organization in the franchise combined with one of its worst characters. Hazzah.
PRO - I haven't seen it, so I'll put it on the end here.
