Damn. I really wanted McGillion as Scotty. Oh well, I'm cautiously optimistic.

^Who's to say Simon Pegg can't play a Scottish character? We don't know yet. We haven't seen him in the role.

Stunt casting? Are you being serious?
This casting news (both for Scotty and Sulu), plus the one from a few days ago of Bana, and the offering of the role of Kirk to Pine is awesome.
Now if they could somehow get Cruise to play the role of Pike..
The casting so far seems to be pretty top notch.
Sometimes I think it would have just been better for them to go in a different direction with new characters. I just hope the movie turns out to be equally good.

I was rooting for Mcgillion but I guess its decided now. I've liked Pegg from what little I have seen him in, about the last 20 mins of Shawn of the Dead and an episode of Doctor Who. Apparently he was also in MI3, which I saw but don't recall him?
Anyway look forward to seeing how the new crew works out, here is my photoshop attempt.

Yeah... McGillion would have been 10/10 for Scotty, but Pegg is so awesome, that I'm pretty sure he can pull anything off... :thumbsup:

I'm pleased for the guy, but my gut says no. As a brit, I've been a massive fan of Pegg for years. Spaced, Hot Fuzz & Shaun and the Dead are on my DVD shelf. Thing is, he's one of us - guys. He really is. I've never seen him talk about Trek before, but he is a MASSIVE Star Wars fan.

Well, that's certainly shocking. Not someone I'd have ever guessed to be picked to play Scotty. Pegg is cool since he's a big Star Wars nut. All we need is McCoy. And Kirk but I think Pine will end up taking the offer.

None of us has seen the Script (have we?)
I bet Scotty's role is (at best), four or five scenes - which I imagine may be "lighter". I'm not saying comedy scenes, I mean lighter than the rest of the movie.
I think the costumes and make-up will sell this one. I trust his acting chops.

Okay, Simon Pegg is awesome. I love Shaun of the Dead, his role in M:I3 was fun, and I really want to see Hot Fuzz. BUT...I really can't see him as Scotty. At all.
As for John Cho -- well, the only thing I've seen him in is American Pie, so that's not a whole lot to go on, is it?
