I'm actually not sure how to do polls (sadly) so just give your thoughts and state if you enjoyed or not with your post. I'm so stoked for this. My most anticipated film of the year is two days away...I'll actually be seeing it on Saturday. All the trailers and clips they've shown for the film have been outstanding and look bang on. The early reviews and screenings seem like they've blown people away. I'm eager to hear my friends (who I managed to drag) response to the film as they know nothing about the graphic novels and are seeing it mostly because I want to which is rare in our group. How about the rest of you? Anyone seen it yet?
 
Saw it last week and It has definitely been one of the highlights of the summer for me. It is completely nonsensical and somehow still holds it together with a great emotional core. I thought I was tired of Michael Cera being Michael Cera but this part was just off enough from his normal schtick (by millimeters) that it didn't bug me. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be grabbing at least one more showing before it leaves theaters.
 
Yeah I was unsure of Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim...hardcore Pilgrim fans are against his casting but he seems fine to me. Rory Culkin is probably the most perfect casting in the film as Wallace Wells, he just manages to exude Wallace's sarcasm and wit in the trailers I've seen. Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram seems inspired too.

Thus I can say that my reaction to SPvtW is so far one of great annoyance, albeit adulterated with an intense desire to bed Mary Elizabeth Winstead in a green wig.
 
Even the ads here aren't enough to get me any less excited to see this movie. So fucking pumped.
 
I'm just tired of every entertainment news story I see being about Scott Pilgrim. I just can't wait until the movie comes out so I can stop seeing it plastered all over the internet.
 
I've been waiting for this movie for somewhere like a year and a half now. The plan is to see it Friday after work. I'll probably end up seeing it multiple times, at least that's my guess from the reviews that have been coming out.
 
I'd really like to see this, but unfortunately probably won't get the chance for a few weeks. So instead in a fit of madness I ordered all the books of Amazon and they're supposed to arrive tomorrow. Perhaps that shall tide me over for a time.
 
I thought it was a great movie. Visually inventive, kept me laughing, faithful to the source material. I was nervous about Michael Cera's casting, since his usual shtick is to be awkward because he's just a bit too smart and introspective to keep up with the world, whereas Scott Pilgrim is much more happy-go-lucky and a bit dumb, but Cera pleasantly surprised me. I guess I can add him to Summer Glau in my list of actors who I wish someone would realize can play more than one thing.

As an adaptation, I think it suffered a bit from the premise of having to include seven (well, six) fight scenes with evil exes. I would've rather they could've cut out a couple of fights (maybe the girl and the twins) and kept in more characterization, but I realize that's, you know, logically impossible. "Four evil exes" just doesn't have the same ring to it. Also, volume 3 was far and away my favorite, so it disappointed me that that was the part of the story where the compression started kicking in. The Envy Adams backstory had more than a bit of personal resonance for me, so I would've liked to see more of it on-screen, and I thought the Honest Ed's sequence was hilarious and though that could've been great combined with the visual style of the film. They did cannibalize a lot of the cool bits from the Ramona/Envy fight into other parts of the film, but I still missed the fact that, hey, it's the Missus and the ex, and that they weren't able to preserve Wallace's catcalls or he and Ramona bonding over how much they hate Envy.

Wallace was appropriately awesome, speaking of. He was a bit more laid back than I visualized him, but it worked.

The consensus in my group was that it was a solid B+. I'm looking forward to seeing what some of my friends who aren't familiar with the source material think of it, and how they'd receive the source material if they were introduced to it after the movie.
 
^^ I don't get that at all. I've been getting Lost Season Six pop ups on my computer. Never seen the Scott Pilgrim thing.
