SCOOBY DOO..lives

If you have kids, and I do, and if you have NETFLIX streaming, I suggest you try the 'new' age Scooby Doo cartoons. There are at least eight of them available to stream, and they are actually pretty good innocent fun for the kids.

Made over the past decade, they seem to cash in on the trend of the time. So you get Pirates, Aliens, and zombies and Mummy episodes..but they are pretty well made cartoon movies that, at least for my kids, kept them entertained and JUMPING at some of the scary parts...

Good fun for all..

Rob

Most of the recent Scooby Doo movies are pretty good. My favorite was the one with the aliens. There was also one set in New England with a Stephen King-type character as the villain which was good.

There was that run of direct-to-video movies before the first live action film came out that were pretty decent. Zombie Island was the first one, and the last was Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, I think. After that one, Casey Kasem came back as Shaggy, Frank Welker started doing Scooby-Doo's voice as well as Fred's, and the quality of the scripts and animation seemed to drop. I'm not blaming Kasem or Welker for that, but something definitely seemed to have happened behind the scenes.

I gather that the next direct-to-DVD Scooby-Doo movie is being written by Paul Dini. Might be worth checking out.

^^Casey Kasem retired last year, so the most recent movie out has Matthew Lillard as the voice actor for Shaggy. Lillard actually beat out some major names like Billy West for the job.

I think Billy West did Shaggy for Zombie Island, but then the guy who was doing Scooby in those, Scott...er...(Quick! To IMDB!) Innes, took over. I hadn't heard that Casey Kasem retired. He had a good run. I watched a couple of episodes of "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" with my son, though, and he seemed a bit shakey. The age was evident in his voice.

I let my 6 year old son and 15 year old daughter watch ZOMBIE ISLAND last night, and then I went to do some writing on my Fanfic. Then, next thing I know, my son comes in and tells me he wants me to sit next to him because it was getting scary...

It was pretty creepy. They've liked all of them, and the best part? They are on NETFLIX streaming. So for my $15 flat month fee they have watched 8 scooby doo cartoon in the past three days..good deal!

I noticed a new Scooby Doo on On Demand a couple of days ago that I haven't seen; I forget what the name is.

It's sad to hear that Casey Kasem has retired. I thought it was good of them to continue to let him be Shaggy even though the age is definitely evident in his voice.

Yeah..you could tell..but the kids didn't seem to notice it so...good for him. The first ones came out in the last 60s right? So that was 40+ years ago, so the dude must be up there...

Shaggy and Superfriends Robin (and the old Filmation Robin too)..the guy created legends!!!

That's a shame about CK, he's a real legend. Lillard did a good job in the films though (the only one who did) so he's a decent replacement...

I also saw that Cartoon Network is making a sequel to their live-action "Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins" movie they aired last year. I didn't think that was too bad. Of the three live-action projects, it was the one that felt the most like Scooby-Doo to me.

My kids love the Scooby Doo DTV flicks and the live action movies. Of the live action flicks I too enjoyed The Mystery Begins the most. When is the sequel expecting to air? Summer? Fall?

My kid won't watch one of the direct to dvd movies we got-he's 4 and says its too scary. Its the werewolf one. That said, these aren't too bad overall(he has like 4 of them). If I have to watch kid's fare these will do.

My three year old doesn't like the werewolf one either. She's crazy about the vampire one though. She loves vampires. She always asks me why The Count doesn't bite people.

Be prepared Admiral..my wife and 15 year old daughter LOVE vampires...we havent stopped watching NEW MOON since we got it last week...save me!!!

I know. I saw the first movie because parts of it were shot in my hometown. It appears that the only thing they shot in Portland was Marshall High School. The fuckers! :klingon: Marshall was the high school for assholes.
