scifi TV series ripe for a reboot

Quantum Leap and Blakes 7 for me. Also a complete reboot of Star Blazers from an animated (somewhat campy at times) to a more serious live action version.

Space 2099 is a project in progress..

more like a remaster for modern audiences

Sliders... but make it serious. Great ideas, terrible executions as time went on. Dropping the aliens would be a must for me, and also not having the main characters be the mayor, wanted criminal, etc. in the alternate universes.

Definitely make it serious,, with an occasional comedic episode. The main characters could be something "serious" like the mayor or whatever, at least a few times during the season. If the story is strong...it could be the "what if"...like what if Quinn did NOT get into college, or followed a different passion.

i think Fringe is showing us what that's like...alt-Walt is "Mr. Secretary"

Also, i vote for SEQUELS (not so much a reboot) of Nowhere Man and War of the Worlds.

War of the Worlds...well, it would be a reboot of Season 2. Keeps the green glowing effect, but keep the characters from season 1.

For Nowhere Man...a sequel..maybe with some flashbacks over the years.

I think UPN should've stuck with Nowhere Man one more season...they could've rode the X-Files wave with a show similar in genre, but different in set up.

I know it never got past the pilot, but Legend of the Rangers as long as they got rid of the virtual weapons thing. That was plain bad.

I'd also consider Crusade but the writers would have to consider other background character since most are pretty old by now. Unless they could splice video clips.

I don't know if it falls into Sci Fi, but how about X-Files.
Fringe plays like X-files and one of the last episodes had two characters that acted like Scully and Mulder (well, one had the "I want to Believe" thing going. Instead of a poster, she had a pen.)

I was actually thinking of writing a novel which is like a reboot of Earth 2 several years ago but I got sidetracked. I liked the premise in parts.

"Jupiter Moon"

What about
"Jupiter Moon" (1990-1991 TV Series) ?
Ilea is an old space craft cruising around the Jupiter system, and functioning as a university. This is the story of its crew and students.

Highly realistic style space drama set in 2050 among colonies and ships in the Jupiter system. Commissioned by British Satellite Broadcasting in 1989, over 150 episodes were made with high production values. It was quite popular and the series has been run several times on Sci-fi channels in Europe.
Here's a clip Jupiter Moon: Fire Of IO - Episode 01

^^^^Highly realistic?NOOOOOO! I watched several episodes via Netflix's Streaming service a couple years ago, and it is literally Melrose Place in Space.

Complete re-imagining of Star Blazers made into a live action series, nuff said.

A GARY SEVEN series would be a lot of fun, and perfect for SyFy's focus on Earth-based science fiction. I'd rather a remake not have any connection to STAR TREK, though. As fun as your STAR TREK novels featuring the characters have been, Greg (Assignment: Eternity, The Eugenics Wars Volumes 1 & 2), it's not necessary baggage for the series to have.

Agreed. Although one can debate whether a STAR TREK connection would hurt or help the ratings.

But, yeah, there's no real need to tie it into TOS.

Meawhile, Friday's nights SMALLVILLE makes me wonder if ISIS might be ripe for a revival. A young woman discovers that she's the reincarnation of ancient Egyptian heroine. Defends the world from mythological threats while wearing a fetching white toga . . . .

Sounds like a good fit for the CW!
