Spoilers Scene from first episode

...It's a bit weird that the Romulans should be ale people, when they play the role of "high-end" pseudo-Romans, the folks who in Hollywood have British accents and sip wine in their togas while scheming and getting good people killed.

Okay, so we only generally meet their soldiers, who might be "low-end", with tastes more befitting the brutal battlefield - the folks in skirts and sandals. And perhaps the politicians we meet want to put up a "man of the folks" act with their beer antics, too? But it's a bit weird we get to hear of Romulan whiskey before we hear of their wine.

I didn’t find this clip to be all that funny. But then I have a suspicion that I’m not the target audience.

Yikes that looks baaaaaad

Like it's geared towards 13 year olds with ADD

Which is pretty much what every highly successful Hollywood product these days looks like / is targeted at.

I like that they are targeting different productions at different folks. Better than doing the exact same bland and stale thing over and over and over again like we had during the near-death of the franchise in the 90's and early 2000's.

This is my viewpoint as well. While I am a fan of this show's premise, I think its a great thing that we dont have the same styled show over and over again. You have DIS which is a highly serialized, more adventure focused series. Then you have PIC which is character driven and meant to expand on the lore. Now you have LDS which is an adult animated comedy. Then PRO will be aimed at kids and bringing a new generation of fans into the fold. And thats not even touching on SNW, or the unnamed Starfleet Academy show.

The key is we've got a lot of variety, and I think thats a recipe for more longevity and growth within the franchise.
