Scene cut in All good things question?

Garak007

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Does anyone know why the scene where Picard finally thanks Q for all the help he has done not there?

The scene on TV broadcasts seems to be no existant and it was by chance I discovered it on youtube. Its the part were he meets Q for the last time when he closes the rift.

Episodes on TV might have some small cuts here and there, that's probably what's happened.

AGT was originally a 2-hour "movie". Scenes were cut when it was split into two separate episodes because the total amount of "show time" allotted for two episodes is less than that of a 2-hour movie. It was the same with every other 2-hour "movie" in Trek.

^and other ordinary episodes. I've watched various episodes wondering if I really did remember a missing scene...

Well yes, but I was talking about the two separate episodes being compared to the original 2-hour airing.

Well, tbh I hate this.

A key part in the episode they cut. The only part they have in the entire series Q gets some gratitude they cut it and all he was trying to do was help hummanty.
Can't they pick a scene lets say Troi and Worf Snogging which ended up totally pointless.

It goes for the same for the Garak and Bashir last scene that was totally cut. Don't the directors have any kind of say when this is ment to occur?

was it ever replaced in the DVD release of the episodes? I also seem to remember that for a while Spike was advertising their airing of Trek as being uncut. Is that still going on?

AFAIK, DVD releases are in their entirety. I do remember the scene you're talking about also.

Spike has dropped their airings of Trek. Every once in a while Voyager will be shown.

And they cut their episodes down even further. TNG and DS9 were in an era of broadcasting where commercials were alotted 15 minutes per hour. When Voyager came and Enterprise they were allowed about 17 minutes. Now television broadcasts are permitted 20 minutes of commercial time per hour. Because of this television shows are permitted to be edited down further to accomodate this. That's why sometimes ship scenes are sped up, the sort of freeze frames before the commercial breaks are cut down and sometimes even rarely shown, and scenes deemed not important to the overall plot are cut.
