that's how the STD deniers call it
Deniers? In what way?

All it means is that time doesn't pass for the prophets the same way it does for us.Frankly, I am college educated and I have no idea what that means.

Sorry. Thought you were trying to make some sort of an argument over how it doesn't make sense or something in that regard. I suppose you were not...You really think I was after that kind of explanation? Seriously?

If you watch DS9 episode 1 (Emissary) it's explained when Sisko interacts with the prophets. What I mean is that saying that it's different is not an explanation for the phrase "non linear".
When you want to say that someone has a different car from yours, you don't call his car non linear, do you?

Seriously, the concepts of linear/non-linear and corporeal/non-corporeal between Sisko and the prophets are mutually discussed within the context of episode 1 so they can understand each other.Sure, it is...![]()

You obviously haven't watched the episode because that's not what happens and stating everyone knows that is a false premise generality fallacy. Wouldn't it be easier to watch Emissary than argue about it?Please, Sisko says a few platitudes about time but the prophets never give any explanations about what they call non linear time. Everybody knows that.

Okay. The contrast is the prophets exist in a state where the past, present and future is a simultaneous unity whereas we live in a sequential state. Hence Sisko's comment in WYLB about possibly returning yesterday. To Sisko just like the prophets, yesterday, today, tomorrow are all one now. Non-linear.I watched this episode many times and there's nothing in it that gives even an inkling as to what the hell they mean when they talk about "non linear" time. The reason for that is actually very simple and that's the writers made up that expression without any meaning in mind.

You are thinking of omniscience, a different quality. If that were true the prophets would already know what Sisko was about to say before he even said it
Well, DS9 is science fiction, I didn't write it, I just watched it.If that were true the prophets would already know what Sisko was about to say before he even said it. In fact they would already know what they would be like at the end of the series and therefore wouldn't need any explanations at all. So, it can't be true.
Nope. I am telling what it would be like if the past, present and the future all happened simultaneously. You are thinking of omniscience, a different quality.

That's not how the prophets are described. That's the box you are trying to fit them in.Nope. I am telling what it would be like if the past, present and the future all happened simultaneously.
