S1 vs. S2 vs. S3 (comparing seasons)

The prequels are better than anything Disney's put out. :D
Hahaha...no.

Man, people's memories are short. The demand for Lucas to sell Lucasfilm, that he had completely destroyed Star Wars, and should sell it to someone who got it. There were regular podcasts and articles I would read of how Lucas "didn't get Star Wars," or how he "resented the success of Empire because that was the one he had the least involvement with."

As HellRod points out shows like Mandalorian, Andor and Rogue One all capture a different spirit than the PT. Which goes to the larger point against ruination: there are installments that are just as enjoyable as the past, from current producers, and the past was not universally lauded. It's far more nuanced.

On the other side, I've seen endless videos on YouTube that trash the hell out of Disney Wars with a few exceptions such as Rogue One.

As I've said before.... bringing up these youtube videos doesn't support your cause. Those videos are made by idiots who have found that it pays to tap into the internet hate machine. They represent an extremely vocal minority of people.

Never trust the opinion of someone whose livelihood is dependent on clicks and views. They'll say just about anything to bait people into watching their shit, and will tell the most vocal exactly what they want to hear.

Some people's livelihood is also dependent on appearing to have integrity and having an honest opinion, so you can't write everyone off.

But the YouTube algorithm sends you to videos you've watched in the past, so if you've seen one video about how terrible Picard season 2 was, it'll likely find another one for you. The site isn't designed to give you a proper overview of what people think, it's designed to provide you with opinions you want to hear and reviewers you agree with, with the most provocative floating to the top of the pile.

This is part of the reason I like forums, especially if there's a lot of people posting and voting on the episode polls. You can get a much better sense of what the general reaction is. For instance the reaction here for Picard season 2 was... that it was a bit terrible. Relatively speaking.

Rise of Skywalker is the only one of Disney's Star Wars productions I found to be a complete disappointment. Otherwise I've found Disney Star Wars largely enjoyable. Yes, even The Last Jedi and even The Acolyte. Though I will admit The Acolyte had some severe pacing flaws.

Eh, it's not like anyone else is pretending this thread is on topic anyway.

The Force Awakens was dogshit. It was just a remake of the original film disguised as Part 7. It did nothing new and killed off my interest in seeing anything else from Disney. All of the commercials I see, it's all just more of the same. Granted, this is just my personal opinion. If you're able to have fun with Disney Wars, I'm happy for you.
If it helps, I feel exactly the same way on Force Awakens. It really is an unoriginal ripoff. It is also, in my opinion, the worst thing Disney ever put out in Star Wars. Everything after it was better. You should at least watch Last Jedi, because it's a massive deconstruction of Star Wars and the complete antithesis of Force Awakens.

(And don't trust anyone on YouTube as far as you can throw them.)

I stopped reading at "made by idiots."

I don't pay much attention to the algorithm. I focus on searches and subscriptions. Many times, I bail on videos a few minutes in, because I realized it was "algorithm recommended" and not something I genuinely was searching for or something I want to see.

My issues with PIC S2 are more from a writing point of view. Great cast, production, costumes, props, sets, lighting, directing, really well done! It just had some bad writing. I was like, what the hell, it's Picard and everyone from S1, I'll stick around.

I guess I dislike Disney Wars, because every advertisement I see boils down to, "Remember the trilogy? Let me give you more of the same."

Well....when it comes to youtubers.....

Advertisements lie. I don't trust any single one of them.

I don't like all of Disney Star Wars (or all of any franchise) but that doesn't make it all bad. I don't even like TNG mostly, but thoroughly enjoy several episodes, depending. Each installment needs to be taken as its own thing, not blinding swept aside as part of a larger whole, because you miss out.

First, there are a lot of people on YouTube I really respect, because they have high standards, understand good writing, and understand good film production. That said, if you think I should give the newer films at chance, at least a single viewing, I can get behind that. I want to go back and watch the first six, because it's been over 12 years since I've seen any of them except the original.

I can try to watch The Force Awakens again, the two sequels, and the two spin-off movies.
Are the TV shows worth seeing? I'm not "into it" enough to watch it as a TV show, not really.

The people I watch on YouTube provide a deep dive across the various aspects of the film such as production, casting, writing, logic, studio involvement, the films lining up with earlier entries, and so on. Why does this threaten you? You should try watching The Critical Drinker and Film Courage.

Perception varies. I certainly did not think it was just "here's more of the same of the OT." Save for Rise of Skywalker, which annoys me because of Palpatine. But, I was annoyed by Palpatine in the PT too so that's not so new.
What I loved about the prequels was that they were radically different from the original trilogy and brought something new to the table. Episode 7 was bad, because it's a remake disguised as a sequel. A lot of people say Episode 9 sucked. At that point, why watch Episode 8? If the trilogy sucks, why watch the spin-offs?

So you're judging these productions without having seen them?

That figures.

Let me guess, some youtube channel told you they were woke? Full of DEI hires? I can already guess your opinions of Kathleen Kennedy.

No. I just said I can give the trilogy, Rogue One, and Solo a chance. I literally just said that.
I generally don't watch TV shows based on movies unless I'm a really big fan of the film/s.
