Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman to star in Deadpool III (2024)

Haha. Yup. Wolverine is not really supposed to show his age. Except for his greying hair.
Well, maybe he was exposed to some gamma radiation a few years ago, and now he's aging more than before, or some sh*t. Who the hell cares?! :rommie:

Besides why are people so against someone else taking over the role...???
Nobody here is saying only Jackman should ever play the part. Find and quote one poster saying otherwise, I dare ya.

Didnt say anyone here. I was talking Fandom in general. Which is why yet AGAIN they are using Jackman to lure fans in....my theory anyhow.
They should have just recast all parts and started from scratch....

I doubt Wolverine is going to cross over into Earth-616 or whatever they're calling the Prime MCU universe.

Ever since Reynolds and Jackman appeared together in Origins, there’s been an ongoing joke between them about how Deadpool was played in that movie. It’s continued in real life, on Twitter and in the DP movies, albeit without Hugh so far in the latter.

I can’t speak for everyone but I think that if Deadpool 3 was to feature Wolverine but have someone else play him after over a decade of chemistry and banter, many fans would view this as a wasted opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing how takes over from Hugh in the long term, just like I’m interested in seeing who replaces Daniel Craig as James Bond or who the next Superman will be, but I’m also willing to overlook Hugh’s wrinkles, grey hairs etc if it means finally getting to see his Logan interact with a proper Deadpool.

Yeah, I don't care about anyone in the part except Jackman, at least as far as DP is concerned. Any other Wolverine would not be a co-star, but a much lesser supporting player.

Yeah but if they are never gonna make the XMEN part of the MCU he will have to be recast. As a whole the Xmen movies are a bit of mess with actually LOGAN being one of the best of the whole series of X films and a final end to it all.

Logan wasn't the end. There was clear scope for one or two more movies following the fate of X-23 and the other mutants, the New Mutants story sat in between DoFP and Logan and was ripe for more stories, possibly tying in with X-23. Wolverine and Professor X were not the X-men. The death of either or both of them is not the end of the X-men.

The X-men franchise suffered because they allowed it to become about Wolverine. He's a popular character. but he even usurped Cyclops role in the Phoenix saga due to scheduling conflicts. If they had developed all the other characters more in tandem, they could have taken it forward instead of rebooting. Personally, while Wolverine was off with Yukio, I would have loved to see Angel lose his wings in X4, or Kitty become stuck in incorporeal form, Rogue's powers return so that she accidentally stole the super strength and flight of someone she touched, or a duel between Betsy Braddock and Sabretooth.

The way they took Angel's wings in Apocalypse robbed us of any emotional resonance for his most iconic story.

There's not really any confusion.

New Mutants' use of footage from Logan is a clear and unequivocal indicator that it's set after that film.
Wibbly wobbly timey wimey. I think Fox's disregard for continuity doesn't make it absolutely certain because the children are all under 20, which directly contradicts the claim in Logan that no mutants had been born for 20 years. But either way, the potential for sequels remained.

This isn't Doctor Who.

If you pay no attention to Ryan Reynolds' attempts at low-hanging comedy aimed at haters, 99% of the XMCU's supposed disregard for continuity disappears like smoke on the wind.

And of course the potential for sequels remained; that's how you perpetuate a successful franchide, which the XMCU very much was.

Lol. No not 99%. Some of it, sure, but some is irreconcilable. There were irrational haters determined to bring Fox down to force them to allow X-men in the MCU, but it doesn't follow that there isn't a lot of criticism to be laid against Fox for how sloppily they handled the franchise.

Magik is also a time traveller.

Fox needed a Feige.

Logan in Logan: "there are no new mutants"

Josh Boone: "I have a great idea, why don't I use a clip from Logan in my film The New Mutants"

:brickwall:

Every supposed continuity 'error' in the XMCU can be or was coherently rationalized.

Constantly harping on the idea that the XMCU's internal continuity was some huge incomprehensible morass is never going to make said idea a reality no matter how often it gets repeated.

Let's just use Wolverine's background flashbacks for example. There was at least 3 different interpretations.

X2- Bloody and no gear on him

Fox was all over the place. There was no department manager to oversee and make sure there was some continuity. I don't see multiple interpretations of Steve Rogers transformation into Captain America for example.
