Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I’d like some leaks. These days, they decide whether I will bother watching, or if I might leave it a month on iPlayer, or not bother at all.

Stand by for leaks...

...and avoiding them as best as possible.
I'm of that generation that invariably read the novelization of the big movie a month or so before the film opened over here.

Spoilers weren't a thing and I never really changed my attitude.

I did, however, decide to put off watching Game Of Thrones until I'd finished all of the novels...

:guffaw:

That depends on who piddles those out.
I mean the usual type of asshole who just thinks its funny to boost their sense of "Nyah nyah, I know somethng you don't and it'll be funny if I make you think that but it's a lie and you'll look daft."

On a related note, one thing to watch out for will be people spoiling the regeneration scene- they didn't show it, but held off the last five minutes, or so I'm told. And I'm willing to believe that, cos they've done that before at press screenings. Doubtless I've been lied to in order to be made to look daft...

Spoilers don't bother me, but neither does the quest for thm- I remember the fuss about "ooh the huge mind blowing spoiler thing Asylum Of The Daleks" - which I still had zero idea about after I saw it air, because while I knew the was new companion coming, I had never seen her in anything, so had no idea what she looked like, so her appearance made zero impact on me what soever... So who gives a shit...

I just want to make sure the ‘her’ in the trailer really is the Mork from Ork Doctor and not Ace. Or to a lesser extent Tegan. It’s the kind of nonsense the marketing gerbil would think is clever.

I don't care about spoilers. If there's a leak, I'll gladly read all about it and know what's coming well before the episode airs.
I sometimes do, I sometimes don't; I sometimes want to know some, sometimes none and sometimes all. I do like it when it's presented as an option and I try to have the courtesy to label them when I can so others can choose to indulge as they prefer.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I try not to spoil myself. It's not always an easy task!

My take is that you only get to watch (or read) something once for the first time as a fresh, brand-new story. After the initial viewing, you're always going to know what happens.

I try not to lose that brand-new story, don't know what's going to happen feeling by reading spoilers. After all, you'll have the rest of your life being able to watch it knowing what's going to happen.

It seemed like everyone spoiled the hell out of "Night of the Doctor" within minutes of it becoming available to watch, so I didn't get the surprise of discovering the Eighth Doctor was in it, but I enjoyed it anyway. (Sitting in a pub watching it on my iPad with my earphones; I wasn't going to wait until I got home.) On the other hand, the revelation of the War Doctor at the end of "The Name of the Doctor" was a surprise, a big one, and I'm glad that wasn't spoiled.

I can’t remember how I saw Night of the Doctor now but I’m very certain I was spoiled somehow.

@Steve Roby I forgot the War Doctor. I was absolutely 100% not spoiled about that and remember my jaw hitting the floor when I saw John Hurt (John Hurt!!!) in Doctor Who.
