RUMOUR nonbinary teen character in S3

This rumour has been circulating on other sites for about a week or so now. Can't speak to the reliability of those sites though.

If true, I approve.

If this is true, which it probably isn't, it's wonderful news, especially if their gender will be treated as matter-of-factly as Stamets' and Culber's sexual orientation has been.

On the other hand, I find it a bit curious that the description I've been hearing last week was about a transgender character and now this source says they're non-binary. Is this merely the source mixing up the terms or rather a sign of the rumor being unsubstantiated?

Cue Rick Berman rolling in his grave(he sleeps in one, didn't you hear?)
This'll be great!

50 replicators on the former.

The only problem I have is the "teen" part. Trek has struggled mightily with adolescent characters more often than not.

100% agreed. I'd hate to have the character (if the rumor is even true) to be derailed by the "Yet Another Shitty Teen Character Syndrome." I'd prefer an adult portrayal.

Agree totally with this, pleases don't introduce us to another Wes Crusher type know all
Non binary or not

Although I feel like we Did get to see Teen Saru a few times. He did everything but run back to his quarters and slam the hatch yelling “you don’t understand Pike”
Well, to be fair, when he called out the Ba'ul on the bridge, the whole thing sounded less like a rage against the heavens and more like a teenager rebelling against his toxic, oppressive father. But I'm still kind of disappointed I couldn't see him yell "You're not my real dad" at Pike :D
