Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watch?

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

No, I won't be watching, nor could I care any less..well I guess I could I mean if I cared less i would not have posted anything at all...

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

^You care that we know you don't care.

It's important to you that we know that it's not important to you.

It matters that we know it doesn't matter.

Or, in other words: TrekBBS is more important than the Royal Wedding.

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

One of my apartment-mates (not room-mates, we all have our own rooms) has a girlfriend over who's from England. I basically promised her I'd knock on their door before 4:00 AM, and then put on Fox News in the main room.

I'll be seeing it--my guess is, with coffee. :)

I must admit...I'm actually pretty fascinated with this. I'm no momarchist by any stretch of the imagination--but frankly, the royal family of England is by and large ceremonial, a matter of the "style" of England. It's...patriotic, if you will--something I understand and admire. It's a matter of national pride.

And of course...it was Queen Elizabeth II who pulled PM Brown aside and told him to Get The Heck Out--and put David Cameron, the Conservative, in charge (with a Liberal Democrat as his #2...but, hey)! Bravo, your highness! :techman:

Besides...handsome prince, extremely beautiful princess--what's not to like? ;)

You mean, the way she "pulled PM Douglas-Home aside," and "told him to Get the Heck out"--and put Harold Wilson, the Labour leader in charge in 1964?

And the way she "pulled PM Heath aside," and "told him to Get the Heck out"--and put Harold Wilson, the Labour leader back in charge in 1974?

And the way she "pulled PM Major aside," and "told him to Get the Heck out"--and put Tony Blair, the Labour leader in charge in 1997?

I agree. Kudos to Her Majesty, for performing her duties as head of state without any hint of partisanship, as a constitutional monarch should.

That's not how British politics works in the slightest. Brown's Labour party came second place in the election, even with the support of the LibDems they still would not have commanded a majority. There either had to be a Conservative/LibDem coalition, a minority Conservative government or an everyone-but-Conservatives government headed by a new Labour leader. That last option was extremely far-fetched, so it was almost certain to be a Conservative-led government.

Lizzie had nothing to do with it, it was all down to the voters. The blame rests entirely with them. :p

I'm working nights so I'll likely be awake and not too far from a TV when the wedding happens. Might watch.

Yeah, suck on that, UK voters!

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

Not to mention the fact that David "the conservative" Cameron if he were an American politician would probably despite his poshness be known as David "Uncle Joe" Cameron or something like that in the circles Rush Limborg hangs around in.

And besides, I won't watch the wedding, but watching it on Fox News? Isn't it on BBC America or something? Regardless of politics or anything, but watching something like this on Fox News of all channels seems extremely strange to me.

And as with all things Royal, there is a Ceremony. The disgraced PM is paraded through the streets of Olde London Town in sackcloth and ashes as the commoners throw rancid tomatoes with vicious glee. Then, it's off to Buck House where Her Maj invites the PM to Kiss The Royal Arse. Following this, the Corgis are released, who chase the be-sackclothed buffoon to the Tower Of London where the PM has a light supper before being beheaded in the morning.

It is the English Way. Know this, foreigners, and be enlightened.

(Will I watch the wedding? Nope. Can't be arsed).

Don't care about it nor am I going to waste anytime on it. The media is just looking for another "fix" to fill the void Princess Diana left and this Kate Middleton Chick is it. Once they are married the media will circle her like they did Diana and watch her every move. The marriage won't last anyway. I'll bet by the time he reaches 45 he would have cheated on her already or dumped her.

But she'll get the kids, and a council house, and benefits. He'll have to pay maintenance, but will be able to visit every other weekend.

Not everyone has BBC America (I don't). As seen in my original post there are lots of TV stations that are going to air the wedding. I can't imagine that what is airred will be too dramatically different if you watch it on Fox News vs. CNN vs. ABC vs. whatever. I still haven't decided what station I am going to watch. One big factor that will influence me is the graphics that the station puts on the screen. I am more likely to watch a station where the news station icon is the smallest and they don't give me stupid non-relevant news updates at the bottom of the screen.

How could you possibly know what will happen in their marriage? No one knows, not even them. Not to mention it's incredibly rude to make a comment like that during a happy occasion for two people.

Not everyone has BBC America (I don't).

But everyone has FNC?

As seen in my original post there are lots of TV stations that are going to air the wedding. The pictures are probably pretty much (or even exactly) the same, but who's commentating for FNC? Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy? Sean Hannity?

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

I have to say, as apathetic as I am about the whole thing, I can't help but roll my eyes when people wish them ill and predict doom for their marriage. I'm not suggesting anyone should be over the moon and gushing about it either but for fuck sake, in either case you're spouting off about two people you don't know from Adam.

You're right, not everyone has Fox News. However, at least with my Cable provider (and I know that not everyone has Cable) the packages with Fox News are cheaper then those with BBC America.

Some stations do air more annoying graphics then others. For instance, I ended up watching the last American State of the Union address on a channel that I don't normally watch just because it had a clearer picture and less graphics.

I can't imagine the commentary during the actually wedding event to be driven by Democratic or Republican politics. Therefore I don't really think it matters what station you watch during the ceremony.

Re: Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate)- R U Waking Up Early to Watc

I'm not talking about politics, but just, temperament and attitude. But whatever, maybe it's not as bad as I would think.

congratulations, you just proved that you know precisely DICK about how British politics works. Well done.

it's more accurate to say Gordon went to the Queen and said, ' sorry, ma'am, not enough people voted for me and my party i quit.' and then the two chinless pricks got together and said, okay, let's work together and Shameron went to buck house and said, please miss, can i form a government, miss?

and she said, if you must.
